I just talked to toyota care and they confirmed that the TSB-0129-11 has a warranty enhancement program. This means that if you are out of the factory warranty (3yr/36K), you can still be covered due to them extending the warranty for this specific TSB. I'm hoping the dealers don't give me a hard time replacing mine.

You may still be covered... call the dealer and provide the service dept with your VIN and see if they can do it first..

After a year I am in the habit of turning the switch all the way. For a while it was strange turning it 3 clicks. I will continue running with them off. I do not see a couple of dimmly burning yellow lights do much for visibility. Now if I had a light grey or silver truck that blended in to the road it might be different. Also, visibilty is normally pretty good in my part of Tx..

Its not a recall, but a TSB with the warranty enhancement program.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the info.

It makes a huge difference. I can see a Tacoma with it's DRL's WAY before one without them on. They catch your eye, which could save your life.

It's your truck you can do what you wish with it even if it doesn't make sense ;)

I just know that the new lights will not do what the old one's did.

I would also be interested if there is a link of some sort. I just put my VIN on the Toyota site, but nothing appeared for recalls yet. I know they will eventually send something in the mail, but if I could speed the process up then that would be better. I don't think mine are melted yet, but they don't look to be far from it.

I had parts ordered today for my 2007 with 81,000 miles... covered by Toyota.

Not a recall. There was a TSB put out in 2011. Jun 25th, 2014 a "Warranty Policy Bulletin" was issued wherein a "Warranty Enhancement Program" is explained.

    See Toyota reference documents:
    POL 14-03 (dated 06/25/2014)
    T-SB -129-11

"Primary Coverage offers the warranty enhancement until November 30, 2015, with no mileage limitation."

I just wanted to confirm that the dealership will on honor this extended warranty. I brought my truck in along with the printed TSB, they checked my VIN and confirmed the melting of the DRL and ordered the parts for it.

I'm going to assume that they will be replacing the entire headlight assembly. Would this be correct?

My headlights came factory tinted. Hoping to get the same tinted headlights.

I noticed the tiny bubbles in the DTRL a few months ago.

    Got my letter this morning

I think you're covered. The way I read it was if you take it in prior to Nov 30 2015 mileage or years of use is NOT an issue. If you don't have it done by Nov 30, you fall under secondary coverage for 5 years OR 70,000 miles from first use. So, on a 2011, you have until 2016 or 70,000 miles to have it done if you don't get it done by 11/30/2015.

If your truck doesn't have drl , why are you trying to get the drl melted lights replaced ?
