Hello, I am a newbie, considering the Tacoma.

I like the XSP-X Version. Specifically the Wheels, side-steps, and fender flares. I also want Leather & Nav. I don't care about the hood scoop sticker, decals, and I don't need a 4X4. I am seeing some advertised as $33,979MSRP in S Florida. Does that sound right?

Just curious what are others are paying out the door for Similar config??

    Also, are the XSP-Xs lifted??

    Thanks for any info!

Never look at the MSRP. Investigate what true invoice price is, then go to the dealer and tell them you will not pay above the invoice price (you investigated). They will try to tell you a different invoice price, and that is why you need to research yourself what true invoice price is. If they don't budge, tell them to kick rocks and go to another dealer.

Toyota dealers local to me will hardly budge off msrp. Good luck.

What? Ur crazy. You should never pay MSRP. That is their overpriced/after markup price.

The MSRP on my '11 was $31k. I knew invoice was around $26k, and that is what I offered to pay. I ended up paying $26.5k for the truck (non-TRD, non-4x4). After T&L, out the door I paid $30k.

I am pretty sure the "leather" in the XSP packages is either that "softex" stuff Toyota has in the Limited or what they call all-weather seating. IE not genuine. If that isn't a problem to you then no biggie there.

I'm guessing hood scoop can be pulled off since it is a stick-on atrocity. Decals can be removed, albeit probably a time consuming pain in the ass since they are huge side decals.

But then it begs the question, if the only things you want are side steps, special wheels, and the bushwacker looking fender flares, and NOT all the other crap it comes with (you didn't mention if you wanted the front little LED's under the headlights), then why not buy an SR5 PreRunner and add all that later to save some dough? I am positive that a 2WD XSP comes at a price much more jacked up so that SouthEast dealers can make a nice profit on it.

And on another note, NO, the XSP package is not lifted. The only Tacoma model that has a slight lift is the Baja (and for 2015 the TRD PRO) which is essentially leveled in the front.

If you just want to buy the truck the way you want it off the lot then no problem with that at all. I'm not even sure how much you'd save in just adding those 3 things you wanted over the XSP but there are definitely potential savings while avoiding unnecessary expenditures (IE, crap on the truck you don't want).

I'm not sure on NAV since 2014's have all those special Entune levels now.

    Just some food for thought.

    EDIT:
I also forgot to mention, but just a little comparison to your MSRP vs the MSRP for my 2013 TRD Off-Road 4x4 here in Georgia...it was around 32.5K or somewhere in that ballpark. Obviously differences in the packages, and I worked my price down to about 32.7k if I recall out the door, which isn't fantastic but here in the Southeast it is definitely in the norm. SO with your package...you MIGHT expect around the same or a little less in price considering it isn't 4x4. Dealers down here love to bust balls over 4x4.

My TRD Offroad was about 34k OTD, Entune w/no nav. I think that your package seems pretty reasonable at 34k. Is that a 4x4 package? If its not 4x4, 34k does seem high.

Edit: If you're willing to go to the trouble of removing the hood scoop and decals though, you might as well just get a Prerunner and put on your own accessories like others have said.

    I paid 35 otd. 14 off road 4x4.

Trust me not crazy. I shopped around and saved a huge down payment. I put down 21k cash I still hate/love Tacoma prices

Truecar.com gives you a good idea as to what others pay for your specifc model. Last year at this time, 2013s DCSB Sports were showing 2k+ under MSRP.

The first dealer I talked to wouldn't budge. The next Toyota dealer offered me $2500 under on the first visit.

Yea, for the OR 4x4, $35 OTD doesn't sound bad. The OP is saying $34k BEFORE T&L though, so his OTD will be at least $37-38k, which is too high because he is starting at MSRP, not invoice.

One thing that I cannot know is the price difference between CA and FL. That may cause a price difference, but my point is still valid about MSRP vs invoice.

I agree with what these other guys have been saying. Buy exactly what you need as far the truck goes and then add the extras. That way you can choose exactly what you want. It'd probably be a good deal cheaper in the long run.

Thank you all for the input. I am going to try and test drive the tacoma this weekend. I appreciate the input about buying an SR5, and then purchasing the accessories and wheels on my my own. I will consider depending on how much I save. But it would also be nice to buy it all done already, and if there are any problems I can bring it right back to toyota.

That's about what I paid for my setup here near Tampa, it's not what you are looking for.

Never never EVERpay anything anywhere close to MSRP for a vehicle. Hell, don't pay invoice either. Here is what the dealer doesn't tell you:

Sure, dealers pay "invoice price" up front. Some may even proudly pull out a piece of paper with the VIN number and price he paid for a particular vehicle, but that is not his NET cost. After the vehicle is sold, the dealer gets a certain amount of what is called "hold back" from the manufacturer. The last time I checked, the typical hold back from Toyota was 2% of the cost of the vehicle. This would only be $600 on a $30,000 Vehicle but there are other incentives that the manufacturer kicks back to the dealer as well.

I looked at three different dealers who wouldn't play fair so I ended up looking online through Edmunds.com and KBB.com and got connected with a dealer who got right to the point of price and didn't beat around the bush talking about monthly payments or other crap. This dealer was only 85 miles away and was $1200 under anyone's price here in my area. It was well worth the drive.

Bottom line: If the dealer won't play your way, take your business away!

Lol if you try to do that in my area the dealer will tell you to pound sand, the next guy who walks in 5 minues later will take the best deal they offer. 4x4's here are far and few in between. I wish I could score a deal like that.

Definitely depends on location. And as an out the butt statistic, it seems like for every 15 PreRunners sitting on a dealer lot here, only 1 is a 4x4.
