Well I have mostly unlimited between Frankfurt and Miltenburg, and a significant section is off autobahn and it is also unlimited and not much different than a US 2 lane, except it is well maintained, flat as a pancake and abundant shoulder. Not sure if this will post right but the straight stretch between Grossotheim and Obernburg is unlimited.

The question of which is stronger doesn't make any sense, both are stronger than they need to be. Therefore unless you're swapping in a hopped up V8 crate engine it just doesn't matter which is stronger.

Which one you prefer is another question entirely.

You are right, so start your own thread on preference. And the manuals are stronger.

HA! The Chuck Norris transmissions are so strong, when the truck is put in gear, the Earth moves beneath the truck......

The CN transmission (Chuck Norris) is so strong, that when you put it in gear, all other vehicles automatically shift to Park. The engine pleads that its not worthy, Angels sing, and Prius's suddenly come to a stop.

Oh damn. You have a part # now on an imagine transmission?

Angels.. Well um yah that is something there.

But my imagination transmission tows the Priusi and other vehicles away, including your imagination auto transmission, since your engine can't stop crying and now needs therapy. The angels all ride on top singing "Oh What a Feeling to Ride a Manual"

    Cuz its stronger. :D

I have only owned manual vehicles and I'm a total manual snob, but my friend let me drive his new Tacoma double-cab with the 5 speed auto and I was impressed. I liked how quick it changed speeds and didn't have that "slushy" feel like the domestic trucks get during gear changes. It was the first automatic vehicle I enjoyed driving.

I think the hatred of four-wheeling manual trucks came from the 4 speeds Chevy/Ford/Dodge used until the late 80s. 1st gear was "granny gear" even in high range, so in 4-LO it was insanely low. Then there were big gear ratio spreads between each speed so if you were in tough terrain, one speed was too slow and the next was too fast. When you tried to shift gears you'd stall out or lose momentum and get stuck. I did that alot in my dad's Suburban, which was a 4x4, 4 speed manual 3/4 ton he bought new in 1977. Holy shit, that truck could take some abuse!

I am bummed, I was told there was manual TRD "Trail Teams"- (Canadian Model) available, I ordered it...when they went to get it at another dealership... gone! :(

But on the lot is another But an Auto version available... but his one has Leather seats.

I am bored to death with my last 2 cars with automatic.... I want the manual, and will have to wait...

Do I wait for the next manual or get the Premium TRD Trail Teams automatic with leather?

    Whats your choice?

There are two Trails Team editions in Canada , the Trails Team Pro which is in AC and based on the TRD Offroad and I believe offered in a manual and the Trails Team Sport which is auto only DCLB

There are a couple guys on here with the Trails Team Sport you could ask them but I'm pretty sure it doesn't come in a DCSB manual but I could be wrong

I daily drive with a 5 speed manual 4 banger. It's far more fuel efficient, you can dictate when to downshift while going up a hill rather than slamming your foot down and forcing the computer to over-rev and jump gears. It puts an unnecessary amount of stress on your engine. As for commuting, unless you are spending all your time in gridlock traffic, manuals are not as bad as they are made out to be. Plus they're cheaper to maintain. After driving a 2013 auto, I can say its nice to not having to worry about shifting, but thats the only extra convenience. I'm pretty sure the gearing is similar on the autos vs. manuals so power delivery will be dependent on how much lead you have in your foot.

You can choose when to down shift and auto as well. I even downshift when coming up to stops rather than using my brakes and such just like you would in a manual. When I am out at the dunes I leave it in 2nd and occasionally have to bump to 3rd, but usually I just stay in 2nd. The only real difference there is you cannot make an auto up shift per se. But how often do you find yourself in a position where the auto would rather be in say 2nd, but you want it in 3rd? I have yet to find one.

But yeah, all those people who whine about driving a manual in stop and go traffic are just whiners. My car is a manual and it has been my daily driver for almost 9 years now. I don't feel like it is any worse to drive in stop and go than my auto Taco.
