2012+ front grill removal question

Yeah, I finally got this off a couple days ago. 2 bolts on top, and 2 plastic rivet clips on top. No clips or bolts on the bottom side. Grab the grill where it edges under the lights on either side and pull straight out real hard.

I just finished my grill mod, so I'll have pictures up soon. Waiting for the adhesives to cure.

 

I see you have a 2013 too. It took a little while for the new to wear off so I could start doing things to it. I'm going to keep the stock grill for now, but mount one of these in the bottom slot below the emblem: http://www.rigidindustries.com/led-lighting/92031

 

Guess I've been unnecessarily removing bolts. Oh well better safe than sorry.

 

I thought there was other bolts too that came out. The ones on the bottom though are for the bumper cover.

 

Here's the grill finished. Just needs to cure over night. I'm gonna do a write up on it tomorrow. I'm pretty happy with it. It was a little tricky at times.

 

That came out sharp! I want to do that to mine bit am skeptical.

I think I'll give it a shot. Looked through a coup diy threads. Is there one in particular you'd recommend?

 

I went with the customcargrill.com grill DIY. He has a video for the install on 2012+ grills. There's a few things that aren't shown in the video that need to be done in order to get the grill to fit. I'm gonna put all my pics together and do a writeup on this grill. Try to explain it out as detailed as possible.

If you're looking for the deep dish satoshi, I've seen a few writeups on here but wouldn't know which to recommend. It's such a difficult grill to work with compared to the 05-11 models.

 

Cool I look forward to your pics. I believe I'm looking for a thin lipped. The style you posted up is what I had in mind but a different mesh pattern.

Just removed my grill today. Thanks for the info, but one does not have to pull towards there body and rip the front grill off (with the horrible noise).

1) Remove both screws on the top attached to the radiator support.
2) Remove both plastic push pins on the top attached to the headlight surround.
3) Pull up on both the right and left end (extreme ends) lower plastic clips (one at a time) and press forward to release but not disengage each clip completely.
4) Now working from either side, pull up on the next clip toward the center and push away from the engine to slightly disengage the clip.
5) Disengage each clip by pulling up and away from the engine and remove the grill.

No crazy popping or breaking sounds, just a clean removal. I did mine in under three minutes first time. Hope this helps.

Since I found this thread I pop my grill off without thinking. Two screws, two push pin things, and off!

 

You're missing some push-pins then... Like 3...

 

I found that I had to pull up atleast 2 tabs, 1 on each corner, in order to allow the grill-surround to come off...

They are meant to hold it tight to the bumper fascia.

 

Whatever. It's easy. I'm not looking at it.

 

Should only be 2 push in clips and 2 bolts at the top. The bottom is just snapped in.

 

And then you can replace that Toyota emblem with something made from metal.
