I'm debating if I want to go with a Kick out or Kick up. What made you decide which way to go? Thanks.

Out and up. Buy some 4x innovations and have them welded up at your own desired angle.

Thanks for your input so far guys, a few questions...

    Adam,
Why not up? I imagine it makes better sense to protect the body. Then again, out pushes the truck out therefore eliminating the chance of body damage. I guess it comes down to what you experienced wheelers come across in the actual elements.

    Patrick,
Brilliant idea, I hadn't thought of that. I hope someone with that or similar design chimes in with pictures. Actually, I was going to go with 4xinnovations after discovering that having them made locally would cost more.

Keep them opinions coming guys, thanks.

a bit of angle up is always good IMO. Personal preference but I don't like vertical protection right against the side of the body. I'd rather have a kickout to keep the body off the rocks and not hide the lines of the truck. That's just me.

I did neither by would suggest out. If you go up you can still damage the body if you smack it into something.

^Hey Slander, I didn't know you were on here.

As usual, I'm the odd man "out" err... "up"

So far, the body damage that I've got, kick out's or up's wouldn't have saved me. I've got dents and scuffs on both sides of the cab under the ext cab windows and also on the bed side, up by the rail. All three times, I was off camber and bounced/slid into a tree. Didn't even come close to touching the sliders.

Same, though when I got mine there weren't too many options on the market.

But I will say in my personal experience (everyone's experience will be different), I've seen trucks with kickouts get hung up on them more than I've seen them help.
