Totally. Is she in Colorado Springs or Pueblo?

I'm just thinking that the more people we can get out there the more money we can raise. It'll be a little tougher to get high attendance when it's such a drive.

That's what I was thinking and why I suggested a trail in the springs, it's obviously closer to her and will maximize attendance (because it's not such a long drive for the rest of the group) which will drive the most in donations.

with 21 or more vehicles I think it's wise to keep it as a 1-2 rating.

Maybe we should just eat at Ruby's? Or we could go in a couple of waves and meet at the top of a trail?

We're accommodating his wife, who doesn't have a whole lot of experience driving offroad. So for that reason we are trying to keep the trail easier and also to allow anyone with stock vehicles to go as well.

And right now there really isn't any trail available in the Springs since they haven't opened up Old Stage Road yet. We'd have to drive up HWY 24 up to Divide anyway to access them and then drive back out the same way. I'm not saying we have to do this one, there's just not a whole lot of options.

And I can say a stock taco will not be doing Saran Wrap or Eagle Rock haha

Totally understand accommodating his wife and I'm 100% with that. What I'm saying is that if we do a run near Pueblo I think we'll see quite a few people drop out (likely myself included). It's a 2.5 hour drive for me to the area that you mention (so 5 hour round trip) not to mention time on the trail and at Rudy's, and I'm coming from Castle Rock whereas a lot of these guys are coming from further north. Logistically it's just not a great location of we're trying to raise money via attendance. I don't want to seem like a party pooper - I just want to help make the event as good as possible so that we can get as much support and donations to her as we can.

I'm sure we can find a trail that is enjoyable for all (beginners and stock vehicles) while still a bit of fun for those more experienced. Surely there has to be something similar to slaughterhouse gulch in the Springs area?

Speaking for myself, I am not concerned about the length of time to and from the event. I just want to be a part of it. Whatever you guys decide to do, I'm down with it.

I'm confused...it's only 30 minutes from Castle Rock to the Springs? I can get to FoCo from the Springs in only 2 hours

I'm trying to tell you there are such trails but the road to get to them is CLOSED on the Springs side  You can still get to them but you would have to drive all the way up to Divide and go the same way back out again. If we did do those trails, time wise they'd work out about the same since the road from the Springs is closed. But they're still rated pretty difficult.

For extra info, here's the route of the other trail up to Divide, then continue back through Woodland Park https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Col...abb58f74e!2m2!1d-105.1576396!2d38.9422556!3e0

I'm cool with anything as well. :D The trail run isn't required so anyone who wanted could just come to Rudys.

I'd love to go to the event and would love to see as many people there as possible. Just not sure I'll be able to be get away with a full day trip unfortunately.

But, if I'm the only one who might have trouble with that, don't change anything for me! I really don't want to be a burden - just making suggestions that might be helpful for such a large group.

If the trail run doesn't work out for you, you could always just come to the Rudy's part

That's my point... It's about 45 minutes from Castle Rock to the Springs and a little over 2 from FoCo. That's why we should try and hit a trail in the Springs or maybe just north of it. The area you had suggested was roughly 2.5 hours from Castle Rock, meaning it would be about 3.5 - 4 hours of driving for the guys from FoCo.

I don't want to argue about it, so I'll let you guys pick the trail and make it if I can. I was just trying to make a suggestion that would be accommodating to his wife as well as maximize attendance for donations. I also understand what you're saying about trail access, but I still think we could find something that would be an hour drive or less for her (like the one you suggested previously) and more accessible for those of us north of the Springs.

    I'll be quiet now.

I apologize if I'm coming across like I'm arguing  not trying to do such.

I did some more google mapping and it takes 1h 42 mins to get to the Eagle Rock trailhead from the Springs. So it'd be 3h 30m hours of driving not including doing the actual trail.

Just so you guys know, last week I was at Eleven Mile Canyon and wanted to take Gold Camp back to the Springs and there was a sign at the beginning of the dirt road that said road closed in 16 miles. Not wanting to make the same mistake that I made mid winter by not believing the sign I turned around. They are pretty good about taking down the signs when it opens. So I believe it is closed. I don't know of any trails for wheeling within that 16 miles. Its mostly private property.

I know it is a long ways for some but the mention of Phantom Canyon made me think of The Bank trail located at the southern end of Shelf Road. Went there twice this weekend. Good and fun beginner trail (in my limited experience) and any stock taco can make it through there. If any of you have been on it the maybe you could elaborate on the trail based your experiences. Then you could hit Shelf Road going north to 24 then to Rudy's. But those way up north may not like that idea. Just throwing it out there.
