    Thanks Box Rocket.

I fired Madjik some questions about his 881 setup. A buddy of mine thinks the 882 will cause me too many headaches in the long run. Which I admit I don't want. He's got a nicely lifted 2nd Gen though.

Ok, nothing against your buddy, but how would he know what the 882s will do if he's got a 2nd Gen? Choose whichever you're most comfortable with, if that's the 881s, that's fine. All I said was if it were my truck I'd do 882s. You could also consider the 883s. They'll have the same height as the 881s but a stiffer spring rate if you even plan to add a bumper or winch. Personally I still prefer the 882s for the softer ride but with enough height that it's still a nice lift even if it sags a little from a bumper.

Cool. I'm still leaning towards the 882. My buddy has been pretty helpful with research as well, mostly tackling the TTORA forums, he's just looking out for my wallet too I think.

You do much more serious offroading than myself, but do you find with the higher lift things require a bit more maintenance? I'm not always great at servicing things on schedule.

Like I said, it's not that your buddy is wrong. The fact is that 882 coils are taller than the 881s. But they are still designed to be used on our trucks and not push components beyond their limits. The only headaches they can possibly introduce would be torn CV boots, but that can be just as likely with either of the other coils too.

Other than that I have not had any additional maintenance as a result of the suspension.

I'll second all of what boxrocket said - I think you'll be happier with the taller coil. Some have really liked the 883 height, but it is gonna be a stiff ride...

What type of color matched paint did you use for the fenders? They look awesome. I was thinking about this same approach for my hood. Its seen better days...

It's PPG paint that I had mixed at a local Auto Body supply shop.

I started with 881s. I was not happy with the final lift height and stepped up to the 882s. The 882s had the truck sitting level with Dakars in the back (without the AAL). I had no headaches running with the stock bumper. With how the 881s/882s run, I would not suggest the 883s unless you know for sure you are going to run a bumper + winch.

Thanks Tomtom. I don't suppose you have a build thread? I'm curious as to how it looked and what you had installed at the time with the 882 and dakar setup (no AAL).

NM. Just found it. I'll ask a question there.

I wonder if the SDHQ boots and a diff drop would bring the boot life back into the original life-span range?

Too low? I assumed they would still be above the main skid-plate of a stock TRD. I haven't crawled under with the express purpose of checking that though. I think Box Rocket has a diff drop.

Boot slide mod is another option. I buy and use the $30 TGP boot kits.

Diff drops (yes I have one) are a debated mod. The arguement is whether or not they actually do any good. I think that will be debated for a long time. But, they aren't going to hurt anything so I figure why not? They're crazy cheap and won't hurt and could even be helping CV angle. Seems like a no brainer to me.

My skid plate is low enough to accommodate one... Takes the clearance debate off the table for my application.

Edit, I think a lot of armor manufacturers do...

Adam, what's the off road parts shop that you recommend? I know I have it saved somewhere but I can't find it. Thanks.

I have heard him recommend Crusier Outfitters various times. I needed a part last week and they had it in stock. Great guys to work with.

After seeing the longer arms of the 2nd gen diff brackets, I see where the debate stems from. Very little return in dropping them an inch. The 1st Gen arms are shorter and so the effect is more pronounced.

I've still got my stock bolts and have considered removing the diff drop to see what the CV axles would look like but everything works fine for now so low on the priority list.

Noticed my steering rack was moving around a bit today. Took a closer look and found that the upper bolt on the passenger side bracket was completely unattached and the bushing had slid out from under the bracket. Glad I caught it before a major catastrophe at 70mph.

Ordered a new bracket and new rack bushings.
