I prefer hybrid containment. That's how I at least plan on preparing.

Hybrid for me as well. Adding ice is about the only thing I plan to do (except gas in the truck)

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
I like the idea of doing primarily hybrid campfire (propane stove) meals (hotdogs, chili, biscuit condoms etc.) with snacks (granola bars, pb&j, chips.trail mix etc.) and probably hit a restaurant on the last day on the way back or something.

Why would you want / need clarification? I mean, I totally understand. :p

That said, I am a hybrid containment, and if we decide on the road to take it easy one night, so be it.

Keeping containers full of ice for more than a day or two is only practical with absurd cooling capacity and block ice, neither of which really interest me right now.

I've never had them, but even I know what Ben's biscuit condoms are. If I can find time, I will try to make some sausage for this.

Ben, have you heard from Tallon if he will be showing us his 4runner for this?

Right now, we are looking at bringing 12 trucks out with about 14 people. Obviously each party is responsible to bring their own food, water, and alcohol (and dog food for those who bring dogs). We probably don't need 10-12 propane camp stoves to make it through the few days. Let's start talking about some of the bigger items that we probably don't need quite so many of, and who is bringing them. Pretty sure I have enough camp gear to set up a portable kitchen and decent sized campsite. Everybody should have their own tarp or 2 to cover a tent and back of your truck if you don't have a canopy in the event of precipitation.

    bigger items

    Propane stoves
    Propane for stove
    EZ up covers
    Portable tables
    Firewood
Percolator (without coffee, life just isn't worth living)
    Dishes/silverware (reusable vs disposable)
Optional small barbecue (briquette or propane)

Let me know about purchasable items like propane, lighters, food, etc.
I work for a company that is basically like its own Costco, and I can buy on the cheap usually.

For propane, I was thinking to bring a full size tank with adapter hose to go to the stoves

Apparently we only sell the small ones. If you have a big one with a multi-tap hose, that works

My camping gear is limited since (I believe) someone stole most of my stuff, but have a small one burner that runs off of propane. Should be enouph in the tank for a while.

Not much but ill bring it and some marshmellow roasting sticks just in case.

edit: We have a bunch of paper plates/bowls left from the 4th, I'll snatch those too.

I have a full set of camping gear. A table and an EZ-UP are next on the list but I should be able to cook for 4-6 pretty easily.

Bringing 2 5 gallon propane tanks, a propane fire pit, some cool new waffle board to make a table with :p . It sounds like we might hit pavement once per day on the average? If so I'm always up for a hot meal or something to-go. I'm going to bring a cooler with plenty of food for 3 days figuring I'll eat big before we leave and we'll grab something at some point in the trip but I'll have some food to share as well.
