Glad to hear you and your family are safe. Looks like you guys took one heck of a hit. I would agree with everyone else that the truck is totaled. But it can be replaced thankfully.

Wow I feel pain just looking at your Taco, mine is the same color...you didnt even get to 500 miles on the odometer.

Blessed that your family walked away and it was not a human loss tragedy.

Hope they replace your Taco with a new one cause this one is beyond tainted, raped and beat.

    Idiot couple deserves a lynching.

While your insurance company might total it, I suspect it will be back on the road with a washed title within a few months...that truck is WAY to nice to be chopped into little pieces. The rebuilders will be bidding pretty high for that truck once it goes to auction.

So the initial repair estimates from insurance: $33,800. The parts alone are around $24,000.

You bought a NEW truck and only had it 4 days. I don't care what the insurance company says, there is no way that truck will ever be "new" again unless they start off with a new frame and replace everything from there on up. The cost of the body shop labor probably is more expensive than the assembly line labor.

I really hope they decide to total it for you.

If initial quote was at 34k, the truck is totaled. Congrats on getting two new trucks in a week!!

Was anyone else hoping a cop was going to come flying out of the side and spear tackle that dirt bag chick running??

Also received some paperwork from the county courthouse regarding court dates for those 2 idiots. I checked out the case number online and the list of charges for those 2 include grand theft auto, burglary, possession of controlled substance, evading police, reckless driving, hit and run with property damage. They both pleaded not guilty, of course.

up to adjuster how they rule it

what insurance company are you dealing with? it matters a great deal, companies like State Farm, Farmers, Liberty Mutual, Kemper, etc, the 1st market providers are more inclined to go with what makes since.

2nd market companies like, go auto, the general, us agencies, omni, geiko, allstate, etc will nickel and dime you to death to not total it.

best advice i always give people, but they never listen, is to keep quite! file your claim, let the company do it's thing, let the adjuster look at it, and when they ask what shop you want to use SAY "I AM NOT SURE YET!" then the adjuster has to write you a check for the damages.

what this does is allow you freedom to use the shop you want to use and there is no more pressure from the company to use any preffered shop. also if you want to do some of the work yourself you can buy the parts and do that. if the company decides it cost $300 for parts and labor to replace a part, but you can buy the part for $200 and do the work yourself that is perfectly fine. your time is worth something. usually the unwritten rule is a professional can do the work in 1/2 the time the insured can. so although they maybe paying for 1 hour of a professional's time and it takes you 2 or 3 hours, do not go back and say well i need to be paid for my extra time, follow?

NOW, once you get your check, you have by no means released any liability of the company, when you do pick your shop, if there is more damage, have the shop take detailed pics and call the sdjuster and the company will write a supplemental payment check for the additional damage.

especially when i was an adjuster full time, i can give you this solid advice... NEVER get mad and upset and mention the word 'LAWYER' because you just screwed yourself big time! because then the adjuster had ZERO say-so and you lost all possible lee-way, from that very second until the claim is closed EVERY decision is made by higher ups and done BY THE LETTER of the policy! 99.9% of the time thats a bad thing, because contrary to popular belief the adjuster is your best friend during claims, in that he has some lee-way to make a 'judgement call' on alot of stuff that the policy does not necessarily state they have to pay for, but any person with common since would say, ya, that needs to be fixed. follow...

only AFTER, the adjuster or company states that they will do no more for you should you raise the heat a little and ask to speak to management, etc. a VERY LAST resort is mention a lawyer. i have handled claims from $200 up to total loss homes after a hurricane or tornado and not a single time did it work out in the insured favor to from day one scream lawyer. trust me, i am not trying to protect the companies or anything for damn sure! when the lawyers and engineers and experts get involved it make my life go to hell, lol!

you have to realize one very important thing, the first market companies VERY MUCH WANT TO PAY YOU and get you out of their hair as soon as possible. we used to get into more trouble if we forgot to pay for something we were supposed to than if we accidentally wrote a check for $500 more than the estimate. because then they look at it as a liability, the adjuster may have not paid that $500 so now we may be stuck with dealing with a pissed customer or a story on the news or court costs.

2nd market companies... if they can save a few pennies, the risk is worth it to short the insured $100 and cross fingers they do not notice.

i stil have both license and keep up with continuing education classes etc for both, but i stopped doing claims a couple years ago, just working as an agent now.

thats how things work from the inside folks.

good luck bro, glad you guys are ok, and i am sure it will work out

i am licensed adjuster and licensed agent

1 final note... were the people who hit you in a stolen car?

if so, the owner's insurance does not have to pay for the damages, just FYI! and something to be aware of.

I would say totaled, but you would be surprised what they will repair.
What's up with all these trucks being in wrecks?

First who is your insurance company ? Your deductible . Plus if it is no fault of your own.
It may be totaled to one company and not the other. If no frame or chassis damage . Then parts can be ordered. If the part are more then the truck is worth . Then it is total !
As long as your family is safe and sound . A truck can be replaced a human life can never .

Dang dude. I just saw the video earlier. Scary!

I'm glad you're both ok and hope you get (another) new truck out of this.

You must be a pretty laid back kind of guy. You stayed pretty calm.

Hopefully that chick that ran away will never get the opportunity to get behind the wheel again.

On a side note.. The police and prosecuting attorney would probably be glad to have a copy of your footage to use as evidence against the driver...
