    Just put my new 870 back together. Spent about 9 hours start to finish today, including building a cerakote oven out of aluminum.

    How I got it: krylon'd receiver (multiple coats) covering lots of rust & pitting. Mossberg-made 18" breacher barrel and a speedfeed stock.

    I replaced the stock with a Hogue 12" just like my other HD shotgun has, plus a new Remington 18" barrel with tritium rifle sights. Detail stripped, cleaned, filed out the worst pits, sanded, media blasted & cerakoted tungsten.

    The oil from reassembly is making the receiver blotchy here. Nice and uniform in person. I'm happy with my first cerakote attempt. I've done KG Gunkote before, so I had everything except an oven big enough to bake the barrel.

    Prep was blasting & sanding to bear metal, then filing out the worst pits with a hand file, sanding, blasting and then a series of heat/brake cleaner/heat/acetone/heat to completely degrease.

    Internals were in good shape, and the bolt is stainless, so no coatings since they're high wear parts. Just a good degreasing & oiling for the trigger guard assembly.
