i would suggest to NOT do this as it would promote body roll as it is essentially the opposite of a sway bar. (when the outside airbag is compressed via body roll the pressure increases expanding the inside one... opposite of what you want.)

^^^^^^ This exactly. That being said large trucks are valved in a way that air does not shift back and forth from bag to bag. I guess a guy could find him a T with some type of one way/check valve he could pull it off safely.

If your leaf pack isn't as strong as you want it under a load than you can't go wrong with these. No matter what type of leaves your running. Air them down when your not loaded and you won't even know their there.

My Firestone air bags work great giving me the extra support needed to haul my Four Wheel Camper. Contrary to another post, I use a separate line for each bag so I can level the load (my Four Wheel Camper is heavier on the driver side) which significantly improves handling.

I want to get these eventually for occasional hauling but I don't want to put in a lift. Is that doable?

I haven't had it 6 months and I've already overloaded it 3 times.

So is there a kit that already has the Firestones and Daystar cradles together or did you have to get the Daystar cradles separately?

So I was wondering , when you have air bags on a 4WD , Can you do major flexing with airbags ? I would think that the air bag would tear from flex and strain .

That's what the daystar cradle is for. The bottom of the airbag isn't connected to the truck. It floats with enough flex and lands in the cradle during normal operation. Search daystar cradle on TW and many threads have pics of how it works.

With the Daystar Cradles , your suspension retains the full range of motion for off roading. The best of both worlds (heavy hauling and off roading )when you run the Firestone air bags with the Daystar cradles. Also when putting your vehicle on a lift for a shop to work on it , If you have just the airbags you need to take all the air out of them and then add the min. of 5 pounds of air after its off the lift. Not so anymore , if running the Daystar Cradles with the airbags.

Absolutely! No lift required. They work with stock suspension perfectly.

So in regards to the 5psi minimum I see "boomer6" post and if I read it correctly you don't need to maintain the 5psi in each bag with these cradles?

When you do have 5psi how much does it raise the rear with no load?

I've heard it is rough with 5psi with no load in the rear is that true?

PARKP81.....You still need to run the 5 psi min. Firestone says if you put your vehicle on a lift you need to remove all of the air and then when done to put min of 5 psi back in. With just the air bags .....the bags are bolted top and bottom. Now IF you run Daystar Cradles with the airbags, The bags are only bolted on top and float freely in the cradle on the bottom. ........ So with 5psi min. or what ever air you have in the bag......you dont need to remove all the air anymore if putting your vehicle on a lift. Hope this explains it a little better.

I run 8psi and I think its like a factory ride with no load , but thats just my feeling.

We'll see how the regular cab rides with the less than 5k oem 4 leaf packs I have on the way but see these as a good way to go if I do end up going with a shell and camping setup inside it and need more. Good info here..........

At 5psi it probably dosent even give me 1/2" of lift. Now this will vary on all trucks, depending on lift (type of leaf springs, blocks etc). Who ever told you they ride rough is full of it. I have bee running 20 in mine since the install, i have factory TSB springs and 1" blocks. Mine has a little bit of spring to it that is more comfortable to me than it was stock. There is no rocking back and forth any more, they even makes the truck feel better under acceleration and braking.

Yes they would be great for a topper and camping setup in the back. You would love the adjust ability.

Confirmed ... I'm completely stock and have had mine installed a little over 3 yrs. bought my truck used and missed the 36 mos deadline for TSB springs by a few weeks. The bags are my interim cure. Eventually I'll install a heavier leafpack (maybe Dakar).

I run 10 PSI and it's a little stiffer than factory, but carries my typical loads without needing to adjust the bags often. I seldom carry more load than the 10 PSI handles.

Awesome, thanks! I saw everybody talking about how it added an inch or so to the back so I wasn't sure if it would mess up the truck's profile if I didn't lift the front to compensate.
