High beams not staying on

For whatever reason my high beams do not stay engaged when I pull the turn signal/light combo stalk. They will turn on, but as soon as I release the lever, I'm back to my regular low beams. I often times find myself going through areas that aren't of the best lighting at night when I have to run to a data center for whatever emergency has happened to someone's server.

Having never owned a truck before (coming from the small compact vehicle of a Saturn SC1) maybe for whatever goofy reason an engineer decided these lights never need to remain engaged. Has anyone else run into this or am I the only one?

 

try pushing them forward. they should stay on. if you pull them back they only stay on until you let go of the lever, then it returns back to low beams

the lever has two ways to get to high beams. you can pull back and hold the lever and the high beams will stay on for as long as you pull on the lever, but once you let go it returns to normal. if you push forward on the level it should pop into high beams until you pull back on them

I actually tried that and no joy. I do feel it going that way slightly, I'll check if something is blocking the travel path.
