Need Tacoma Mechanic!!

    Just curious if anyone knows a mechanic in the Philadelphia area that can help me diagnose a problem with my 2000 Taco V6 4x4 manual tranny?? There is a roughness while driving that has developed and I can't tell if it is coming from the drivetrain or the engine.. It's driving me crazy!

    I need a local non-dealer Taco expert around Philadelphia to help.

    Any ideas??

    No Vibration. A low humming noise, almost grinding. I can feel it in the gas pedal. It's much loader when the engine is above 2800 rpm's. I feel like the truck doesn't have near the power my older V6 had. My guess was the tranny or transfer case or diff's. Who knows, maybe the engine~!

    P.S. Engine Oil Changed along with both Diffs and still noise. Can't seem to figure out how to check or change tranny fluid??

    they had problems with the oil in the trannys and diffs for a while it was to thick and cause u vibration try changin the oil maybe

    On the driverside of the tranny is the fill (towards the top). On the bottom should be the empty. They are large flat bolts (23mm I think). Take them both out. I find it easier to fill the tranny through the shifter (less hassle)

    You need to use a GL-4 fluid, NOT THE GL-5.

    Very Good Question on the Timing Belt? Not Sure.. Would the engine begin to feel rough as the belt stretches looses timing??

    It is very possible, and the loss of power. The change interval is 90k on the 3.4l.

    No clue. Most people do it themselves. It is a weekend type of job and not really that hard if you are mechanically inclined. It isn't difficult, just involved.
