    the only way to earn 5% is directly through the open market. Unless there is a secret secure bank fund that pays that which I haven't heard of. Is it possible? Oh sure! But there is certainly measurable risk.

    but i agree, certainly do able, but for everyone who makes a killing like that friend, you know there are 20x as many that lose it all or make almost nothing

    Well I totally agree. Thats what I was saying, to make a nice living just on interest you need to be ready to take some big risk or some how find a huge sum to invest in something safe.

    its getting any significant capital in the first place that is the challenge

    Have you utilized your professors heavily? They have to have some connections, ask all of em and bug them for any leads on positions and make sure you can get some good references from them.

    Also Ben I know simplot has a number of engineering positions open. Doesent hurt to give it a try and look.
    Even if you read the job description for something and you don't think you are qualified, might as well apply anyway. It can't hurt.

    When my sleep schedule gets that bad i start going to bed earlier and earlier so that i feel like i'm wasting time by being awake in bed. Then the sooner i go to sleep, the sooner i can get up and do more important shit. :)
    Have you tried cutting back on caffeine by a certain hour of the day? I drink my one soda a day around lunch, that really seemed to help me.

    But seriously good luck to all of you looking. ..been there done that...10 years ago I thought I'd be coming out of college into an office somewhere. ..8 years ago I thought I'd be stuck working the lumber yard forever and hating life and then 7 years ago, I took a huge risk and at the time, a $50k/year pay cut...now I'm in a job I love and can't see myself doing anything else...which means I'm probably about to get dick punched :laughing:
