Oh you are absolutely correct. You don't need a CHL to carry in your car. You do however need to be 21 to carry concealed handguns. So I am going to correct myself.

In the end I did say not to take my advice nor anyone else's as law, but to seek professional advice.

You used to be a cop. You are now not. Laws change and unless you have been keeping up to date then you may not know every little single stipulation for every single city in the entire country.

For example, San Antonio has a city ordinance against open carry loaded long guns. Yes there are weird laws out there, even ones that may go against constitutional laws.

Yup, that's correct. Same rules apply to me, but I work at a University/hospital so I get double whammy when it comes to being able to take anything with me.

    This^^^

Their laws do not triumph state or federal laws. Just because local authorities say it's law doesn't make it a legal law. This has been proven over and over again that they have no authority on the matter. You can carry a with a CHL anywhere that is authorized by state law. Period.

I understand the law, but that doesn't mean that there are certain instances where the laws have been sidestepped by local authorities. I may have misquoted myself and made a mistake prior by stating that he needs a CHL to carry in his vehicle.

Whether or not I agree with the laws made by certain cities, it is their laws. If you or anyone else on here wants to spend your money fighting to correct those inconsistencies, then by all means go ahead.

And since we are quoting laws....here is the current UP TO DATE interretation of the laws regarding carrying on campus:

LaborCode §52.061 - Employee Parking Lot Protection Act allows employees of a college or university to keep legally owned firearms and ammunition in their locked vehicles on campus streets and parking areas.
Government Code §411.2032 relating to the transportation and storage of firearms and ammunition by concealed handgun license holders (including students) in locked, private vehicles on the campuses of certain institutions of higher education.

I would welcome the day I was detained or arrested for a bogus local firearm law. $$$$$$$

    And your point being????

It is still a local law, constitutional or not. Local PD have arrested people based on it in the past. Those people spent money to get it dismissed and still have an arrest record that costs to get expunged.

So it holds power in the fact that if challenged it still costs the challenger something out of pocket. Hitting my pocketbook is one of the most challenging things an entity can do in my opinion.

Try to think more dialectically, not singularly.

    Cool.

Have time off, then go open carry in San Antonio. Let us know how it all pans out.

If you profit from it then kudos to you. Then again you profitted from money we all paid into the state via taxes, so that money belongs to all of us lol.

I saw it, read it, and interpreted it. All the dimplomas on my wall saids that my thought process are intact, accurate, and superior.

Unconstutional or not, you can still be arrested by local PD based on the local city ordinance. You can fight it, it will cost money to fight it.

All of this is stipulation, but people have been arrested in the past. The outcomes of said arrest have not been publicized, however with the freedom of information act in hand you can request information of the case. It is a simple process; I personally don't care in any way, shape, or form to find out about the outcome. I know what the ordinance is and frankly I don't care enough to challenge it.
