Just an FYI, a mod will allow a PM or email to the banned guy. Just tell the mod your reason and they'll open the door for you.

 

Just a final note here. The mod came out great. I love the new look. For me it was worth every penny. Now when I see the truck, it looks like a whole new truck.

I've already sold the bumper cover and all of the support brackets. (not the reinforcement bar). I have the hood, grill and headlights to move. Actually, I have two sets of headlights. I replaced the OEM set about a year ago because of yellowing from the sun. I tried to restore them, but they just didn't come back good enough for me.

Anyway, THANK YOU to all who helped with advise and input. And thanks for all the positive energy.

the reason i was given for being banned was because i started explaining how my radar/laser countermeasure systems work. its legal, at least here, and improves on safety. i did not think it was that big a deal to discuss, i guess it was.

I hope they don't permanently ban you for that. They should understand and reinstate you. They can easily remove the offending posts. Every one deserves a second chance. IMO

 

ive got an 08 and am considering doing the same conversion. im going to be running a winch bumper though instead. i can get the hood, grille, headlights and fillers no problem but any idea what other parts i need?

just asking since i wont be needing the factory front cover or rebar.

About the only things I can think of is the hood latch assembly and the headlight support clip. And it's possible it's not necessary.

Someone who has done the bumper install could chime in here.

Here are some of the latest updates to my Taco.

First is a couple of comparison shots of the updated, color matched red grill,,,,,

 

Next, here are the new tail lights after the mod.

 

Then I ordered my new license plate. "My Red Toy".



Then after some teasing,,,,,,,,,I finally removed the dealer stickers. Thanks guys, looks much better.

 

Next I did the "anytime fog light" mod. Went well. Here's some shots,,,,,

 

Today my Dynomax cat back showed up from Advanced Autoparts. I picked it up for $199.99 with a $50 coupon discount.

I installed it in less than an hour. It fit perfect, all hangers were right on. It came with the gasket/seal at the main connection.

And it sounds "completely different" than the stock system. All in all, I'm very pleased.

 

Looks good OP! I'm saving this for future reference. I just picked up an 05 and like the new front too. I'm planning to do this in a couple of years.

 

OK, so the Dynomax catback system has been taken off. I don't care for the sound. I was hoping for a lower throatier sound and it turns out to be just a bit too loud for my taste. Keep in mind, I'm 53 years old and have outgrown the loud exhaust game. Live and learn I guess. I thought I wanted it. No big deal. I have the system up for sale on the 2nd gen marketplace. I have someone asking about it already.

Do you know if the 2005-2011 hood lock works with the 2012 hood?

 

Hi Steve truck came out great .In process of picking up parts for conversion. Going be picking up lower parts from member changing his bumper over to off road bumpers. Will just need upper parts from bumper reinforcement brackets on up. Not sure about the smaller parts needed, clips etc. I know will need headlite bracket
