Hey all, I've always wanted a Tacoma and finally I've saved enough and recently brought a 2014 DC TRD OR.....

This may be a stupid question, but when you put your key in the ignition and turn it to on position, without starting the engine - is there supposed to be a clicking noise present?

Maybe I'm being paranoid but the second day I owned it, the air bag light came on, and ended up being a bad spiral cable.

I've enjoyed reading all the past threads and look forward to working on my first mod. Thanks

    None... sigh
Welcome to TW. It's new, it's under warranty so just take it up there and get it looked at. It can't hurt, and will give you better piece of mind.

Have an idea about your clicking noise. Are you pushing on the brake when you have the key on but the engine hasn't started yet?

I know when I let my truck roll down a hill slightly and have the key in the one position with the engine off, when I hit the brake the brake booster makes a noise that could be called a clicking. The brake booster setup is different in the Off Roads (for ATRAC to work). I think it is electrically boosted so you hear some strange noises when you hit the brake and the engine is off. Just an idea.

Some of the noises these new trucks make are a little strange at first, I am finally getting used to most of them. If you are still worried call the service department or stop by and see if a tech can take a ride with you. You should feel good about what you saved up for.

    Thanks guys.

I was dropping off the check for my new rig and talked to the service guy, unfortunately I wasn't in my taco at the time. He said he believes its the smog pump? I've read past threads on this forum and I thought that thing kicked on when the truck is turned off, not when it is starting up. In any case besides these hiccups I'm enjoying my rig.

Mine makes a click. I thought everyone's does that? Put the key in and turn it on without starting makes a single click. 2012
