You can't make a blanket statement like that. Sucks that your rack is having problems but I've got almost 12K miles on my Safari Rack and don't have that kind of play in the guides.

Any aftermarket steering rack is a bit of a crap shoot in terms of quality. Some will be fine, others won't be.

OEM is the best option for avoiding quality issues like this.

yes, I didn't say my rack was perfect. The ITR was faulty, but that had nothing to do with the guides and the actual function of the rack itself. I know of several people with a couple years of miles on the Safari racks without any problems.

Like I said before, aftermarket is a crapshoot. Still doesn't mean every single rack is going to have problems. Not everyone is willing to drop the amount of coin necessary to purchase an OEM steering rack. For those people who consider an aftermarket rack, these are still the best option IMO. Next time I replace mine it will be OEM.

I'm pretty sure I can make whatever statement I like :notsure:

After all 3 of us have had issues, I would say it's a fair assessment.

Watch that video again too, it's not just my guides, there's quite a bit of play in those ITR. I'm probably lucky I haven't imploded one of them with the little wheeling I've already done on it....

Again, I'd love an OEM if I could afford it. Regardless, I will admit that neither of you two have the guide issues I have, but if anyone does want to chance it on one of the racks, I'd throw away the ITREs that come with them.

Relax. Don't be a pansie, there's no reason to get all bent out of shape. My comment about my ITRs is not to say that the ITR is not a critical piece of the steering. It absolutely is. But depending on the rack you get they may or may not come with the rack and are a separate piece that can be changed independent of the rack itself. That's all I'm saying.

I'm also not trying to defend AAE or Safari in this. There are clearly issues. And I'm definitely not suggesting you recommend them to others. We're on the same page here. My point is for aftermarket steering racks these are (unfortunately) still the best option.

There's no point. I've said all I'm gonna say. I just have to shake my head at people who get all offended at a different opinion and if you call them on it. Just relax people.

:) It's all good. Say whatever you want. So you felt like you were told what you could or couldn't do? But started this by telling people to NOT buy these racks. irony. ;)

I'll keep my comments in my own build thread from now on.

They are such a pain. Just try grabbing them with pliers and rotating, then pulling. Some are easy some are a pain in the ass
