How bad did I get ripped off by my handyman?

It depends. I get paid hourly by my boss, but he establishes a set amount with the homeowner. But other people do it differently.

 

Friend just had their house repiped in copper.
Contractor tried to tell them that the cracked stucco and bulges in the drywall were normal.
She complained and the guy was back out today fixing it.
He was pissed. Got a $350 ticket on his way there, and he wasn't getting paid to fix the job. Complained the whole time. Monica told him to STFU and quit crying, that he'd be on a different project making money if he had done her's right the first time.

 

Fair price by far. In the long run I actually charge higher for small jobs per hour than projects where ill be for a week or more.
Next week I have a window to trim. 1 window between meeting, measuring and getting material I'll have spent at least 3 hours without touching a tool just to get ready for the job. And if you don't bill those hours it adds up quickly.

Yes 3 hours. It adds up fast. Drove out to meet customer and measure explain scope of work, easy hour and a half.Then at home I do some math, plan the job out. what I need. make some calls to price things. I don't go to a depot or Lowes unless I have too, they can't touch the price or service I get from my supply houses. Another half hour. Depending when the job is scheduled go pick up supplies, any chance its odd or hard to find and I'm checking multiple supply houses. (Try to match several year old siding)
OK so supplies check what about tools.. I should take a picture of my shop and garage so you can see how many tools you acquire after a few years doing this. So I load the truck for the jobs I have planed today, hopefully it all fits and won't be stolen if I turn my back.
All that is just a small part of the work you don't see to make any job happen. This isn't an office where everything is supplied.

I saw that but I was just asking because they look like cedar. Rare to find pressure treated cedar. Almost non-existent.

 

There is brown PT as well as Green PT , you can see the incised marks in the lumber in the pics , it's definitely PT

in my area that would be a <$200 deal and completed <2 hrs if no paint or coatings were involved..

and composite material would eliminate the moisture concern from the concrete...
