What is a 2014 Tacoma Baja going for? The MSRP is just over $39k but what would be a good purchase price for a new one. The shocks, springs, exhaust can be purchased put on by anyone. The Baja tape to me is fugly.

I am in the market but I would not pay near MSRP, especially considering it is the close of the model year. I was thinking $36k would be a very good offer.

I think you answered the question yourself, buy the truck you want cheaper and put the stuff you want on it ;)

What he said, but $2500 - $3000 off MSRP would be a very good deal

You'd be better off and much happier with an aftermarket suspension system.
The money saved not buying the baja would get you that system and leave your wallet fatter .

Why buy the truck if you plan on ripping everything off? I mean it has a decent suspension on it already. I would just buy a TRD off road and then rip everything off of it. or an SR5 would be another good alternative.

Not really. You shouldn't be paying more than invoice on a new vehicle.

Very hard to get those deals on vehicles like the Tacoma that sell close to MSRP most of the time. Not saying it can't be done but it's not the norm for the hotter selling vehicles.

OP, check truecar.com to see what they're selling for in your area.

    Some stuff...
A buddy at work is getting a 2014 Baja extended cab with a few upgrades through the Costco vehicle program (that I highly recommended to him) for $33K FYI.

I'm looking to purchase one and a dealer quoted me just over 37K. That was the initial offer, and i haven't tried to negotiate.

You buy the Baja for the gun metal gray TRD bead lock wheels because those are almost impossible to get. The suspension you can get a lot better aftermarket.

You can get a Baja new without the huge Baja decals... I think it's an extra $50 for the 'delete' option (stupid, I know). Other members have removed them no problem.

However, wait until later in the year when the 2015's come out and the TRD Pro will be available. Which is a Baja but with new grill, color matched bumpers, hood scoop, smoked headlights, TRD shift knob, and black TRD wheels as opposed to the gunmetal. It will have different badging which from what has been seen so far is minimal on the Tacoma's. Available in Black, White, and Burnt Orange.

I paid MSRP, and my truck did not come with the big baja decal on the side. Dealer wouldn't negotiate because Tacomas are in high demand.. Shitty but love my truck.

Not getting a Baja. As spoken from experience only a Baja owner can gain.

In 2013 the delete decal option was about a $300 discount. I did not want the stickers and was going to order one. In Tx they all add the stickers. I looked in KC and they had them without but they did not have tow pkgs.. Factory tow pkg. is a must have for me. When the dealer found a truck without all the other dealer and distributor add on crap and took 10% off sticker I bought it. On a truck that carries a $39k MSRP I would shoot for $35.1.

Appreciate the comments. I offered $32k for a used 2013 Baja and they did not accept. Maybe it was a good thing. I just cannot see buying a new one and paying $39k. That's just too much quid. The new Taco Pro coming out will be just as expensive so I may just go the regular 4wd Taco route and add the parts as suggested earlier. At least that way I don't have to deal with removing that ridiculous Baja tape.

    Kirk Out!

It may be a little far from where you are and I may be doing something wrong while posting this per forum rules (I am pretty new at this) but I have a 2013 for sale! https://fortcollins.craigslist.org/cto/4554568790.html
I can give you more info if you are interested. I had my hearth (and Wallet) in the 1st gen tacos, so I got a 2004 Double cab!
I have another tread somewhere here where I give my .02 about the baja package, make math and after all the upgrades, the baja still ok. Good luck with the search!

    Not enough...
I'm in CA and currently shopping for a Baja. Emailed a bunch of dealers in CA, AZ and NV and the best price i've been quoted so far is $36K.

What attracts me to Baja is that I get a lifted truck from the get go, plus OEM warranty. I can drive a lifted truck with nice suspension for 3 years and not worry about a dealer telling me to pound send if anything breaks, because the first thing I would do if I bought a non-Baja truck is a lift and bigger tires ($2,000-$3,000 out of pocket). Baja gets me from 0 to an off-road bumper without an out of pocket expense of getting a suspension/wheels/tires. I am also getting a Leer topper, which is another hefty expense on top of the purchase price.

Any way you look at it, financing additional 3-4 grand over number of years on top of the truck price at a low ~3% APR is better than dropping 3-4K on your credit card at 15% or more. Unless you have some disposable cash, of course.

Worst case scenario, I rip out TRD Baja suspension and sell it on this very forum, recover a pretty good chunk of cash, and then buy a better suspension.
