I am the proud owner of a 2010 regular cab 2WD. I absolutely love my truck, except for the two things. The first thing I DISLIKE about it is the lack of intermittent/variable-speed windshield wipers. The second thing was poor factory stereo system. The speakers were absolute garbage. For $240, I purchased a Pioneer head unit and Pioneer component speaker system. Needless to say, it now sounds awesome!

Anyway, I would like to install a subwoofer and amp to further improve my stereo system. I bought the head unit, speakers, and all installation gear through Crutchfield.

Crutchfield is awesome, but they only offer enclosures for the extra cab and crew cab models. Does anybody know of a company that makes prefab enclosures for regular cab models, or has anybody fabricated an enclosure? I am looking to add an 8-inch subwoofer and a 250-500w amp.

Anyone know of any bags I could throw over the rear of my seats so that I can stow some of my stuff into?

Anybody use heavier weight oil in their 2.7l? Mine just turned over 60000 and am wondering if I should go to a 10w 30 oil. I currently use either 0w-20 or 5w-20 mobil 1. Maybe I should just use a high mileage oil. The reason why I ask, is because the crank case seal has started to leak and I am wondering if its because the oil is too thin. Maybe a thicker oil would benefit the seal as well as the engine since it has some wear.

Guys I dig the look of these and can only imagine how nice in the woods they would be. Other than a Jeep there might not be a compact 4x4 with as short a wheelbase.

A few questions...because my mind was set on my next truck possibly being an access cab TRD off road so I could get the locker..then would do 2-3" coilovers and new leafs....bumpers, winch, slider...

Me and my dad have owned for hunting a 92 Taco with 4 banger, Ive had a TJ with a 4 banger....on the highway it can get scary between big rigs, or going up steep grades, or needing to pass....

What are these things running like on the highway with lifts, bigger tires, winch, bumper, and heck a camper and towing bikes? Wow..seems like these things would be hurting majorly without a regear and even then with bigger tires and extra armor, throw in the hunting gear, would these things keep up with traffic on the highway?

Stick would be so much better, but my parents are older now and only like autos. For their third vehicle we usually have a 4x4 of some sort, right now a Jeep XJ that I want to sell and replace with a TJ, FJ, or Taco for my dad and I to hunt and wheel in. I am digging the look of these single cab Tacos!!! And they seem like they would rock off road....I am just worried about power and highway mannerisms of the 4 banger. Say OME lift on it and 265s, with ARB bumper and winch, sliders, and a cap to store hunting gear. Without regearing would it be a nightmare on highway?

    No, you won't notice 265s. 285s aren't bad unless it's really windy.

Yea 285's I don't really notice with the factory gears although mine is a 5 speed. I do have to down shift into 4th on the highway on the bigger or longer grades, but I have no issues with passing or keeping up with traffic. Highway driving with one of my buddies riding along I can feel the truck struggling a little bit though.

Man if they sold the single cab with the engine from the FJ and option of a rear locker, that would be freaking amazing....I would not hesitate to lift it and slap on 285s, bumpers, sliders, skids, winch and then use it as my commuter hah

All of your trucks look amazing. If I do get a Taco I might end up with the access cab just because I am worried about power and I want the factory locker....but I would love a single cab as my parents third vehicle so when I am home the hunting and errands I do for them that i need a truck could get done, and I could go wheeling or just get to better hunting locations now that my dad is older with some health issues that slow him down. Growing up I had a K5 Blazer with 33s, 350 and 4 speed with granny low and could take us places that now would be too long a hike for dad.

I'm surprised nobody has done it yet. Who knows, maybe nobody with a 2TR has needed a new engine yet
