Im from a small town in east tx called van. I just got a '94 yota 4wd. Looking to build a bumper. Found a good deal on some 8"x2"x1/4" channel iron. Think it would work? Heres a pix of my yota.

You mean angle iron? One thing you should think about is the weight. Its not super heavy, but it will definitely affect your gas mileage. I had a steel plate bumper on my old Chevy 1500, and I got horrible mileage because of front and rear bumpers. Just my .02, but you could always paint your existing bumper with plasti-dip and that way it looks new, but if you ever changed your mind, you can peel it right off. Or you could also build a pre-runner style bumper with tubular steel, those are typically lighter, and look pretty cool. Let me know how you build goes. Take care.

Plated bumper and tube bumper weigh about the same. Give or take 20 or 30 pounds.
