Why can't you just agree to agree with the fact that Zach was advising the guy to not do kipping pull ups? Because unless I'm mistaken, you're gonna advise the guy to not do kipping pull ups as well.

I would definitly advise the guy not to do kipping pullups, he doesnt need too. However i do not think they are at all stupid or pointless like whats being said, i think they are verry usefull depending on the situation, but if you dont need to do them, then dont....but just because you dont need to use a movement doesnt mean its stupid? I dont use cable machines but alot of people do because its what they need to do but i know why they do it and dont tell people its the stupid. If i went to one of my crossfit comps and did strict pullups guess where id place...dead fucking last. Hence why i said strict or banded pullups when i teach i prefer, if someone knows how to kip or butterfly correctly and wants to then go for it. If you can only do 10 or so strict pullups at a time and theres 30 in the workout im gona have them use a band because theyll be resting to much and the intensity wont be there. However if they can knock out good kipping pullups then ill let em because theyll keep the intensity. And it aplies the other way if theres sets of 5 pullups and say the person can still do 10 or so and knows how to butterly ill still reccomend strict because the intensity will still be there.

Im not at all advising them if you dont need them. Im saying there an awsome tool to have and they need to be prcticed if you wana be good at them and do them safely.

I am saying however dont hate on something just because you do not do it, especialy when the reasoning is "because its dumb"

yep, most of them do a powerlifting program with HIIT for cardio. they don't actually try to push press 135 for max reps believe it or not.

idk where you heard that from, crossfit athletes do everything to train considering the idea behind it is to do everything as well as possible. they do crossfit but with a good focus on added stuff like olympic lifting programs, strength programs, swimming, running and all that but usually do a much higher volume of it to adapt for the games where they'll be doing 12 workouts over a weekend. do some more research i don't know where you heard that. i have multiple friends that compete in regionals and know a few master competitors that go to the games and they and all the other competitors they know do pretty similar things. i also see CJ Martins programing and he programs for multiple games athletes. like bridges and fisher and they are definitely do crossfit wods.

i swear the people in this thread talk more about crossfit than most of my crossfiting friends on Facebook, if you guys don't like it why talk about it so much? i do it all crossfit is just a part of my fitness program i like to be well rounded so i can actually use my fitness.

other than weight lifting what sorts of fitness is done in here considering the title is official gym/fitness thread. doesn't seem like anyone likes to do anything but lift weights at the gym then go home and eat protein? what kind of metabolic conditioning is done here? anyone swim? cycle? run? mountain climb? kayak? surf? ski? basketball? rugby? tennis? or do anything practical with there fitness or is it just a bunch of meat heads in here who bulk 365 and don't believe in cardio because in reality its too hard so they make fun of it?

I mostly just hike now days. Even if I didn't lift...I would bulk 365.

Hey man it's like jeep bashing, it's almost tradition, if you don't like it you don't have to post in here. there is always gonna be 2 sides, apple and pc, ps3 and xbox one. just because we talk shit doesn't mean everyone who drives a jeep and play xbox is a dickhead( lol see what i did there).
