HIDs

I just had some HIDs go out on me and I bought new bulbs and asked for 30k blue and when I plug them up and turn on my headlights at first they act like they are trying to get that dark blue color but end up turning pink!! With the HIDs there's a pink beam and I believe that must be interfering with something. Has this happened to any of y'all or can someone help me fix this problem?! Thanks

I've had 30k blue before so whatever chart your seeing is wrong

 

give or take colorshift on old bulbs and quality control even?

 

if u want blue and low light, u want 8-10000k

You might have had 10000-15000k blues but you didn't have 30000k blues.


The number is the actual color temperature. If you bought lights labeled 30000k and they ended up being blue its either bad quality control or a mislabeled set of bulbs like somebody else said.

 

Why do you want LESS light? 5,000ºK is the brightest.

 

ALL HIDs take time to warm up........... Theres an arc thats heating up salts in there iirc and u dont get immediate stable colors.... They will shift for a while.


bottom line, send them back if ur not happy...tell them u want super dark blue, and are not 100% sure what Kelvin to ask for.

Id suspect u want 8000K tho

Sooo, you're calling out all these people that are telling you correct information and trying to help? You said that you bought 30k bulbs. 30k bulbs are pink. Simple as that. They may turn on blue, but will shift to pink once the salts in the cartridge warm up.

If you wanted blue you should have bought a 6k to 10k bulbs.

 

remember, Kelvin is an absolute scale to which color is a slave...............

manufacturers do not make up the scale......... Kelvin is also not "close enough".....kelvin is kelvin. Its like arguing celsius VS celsius

These guys speak truth. The diagrams and pictures don't lie. People driving around with 30000K blue are feeding you shit, they're not 30000K, or you are color blind. Call any HID manufacturer and ask what color 30000K is if you think the enthusiasts here are full of shit.

 

What everyone has said is 100% TRUE.

8000k-12000k = blue
30000k = pink
30000k DOES NOT = blue

You have 30,000k bulbs, they are pink.

You want something lower to get blue.

 

When these are advertised on Ebay, "30,000k Blue" sounds a lot better than "10,000K Blue" After all, the larger the number the better it must be right? Sellers will call their product anything if it will make it sell better.

The plain and simple facts are that the color temperature of 30,000 Kelvin is Pink. The color charts as well as the previous posters are 100% correct.

I personally think anything other than 5000K to 6000K is just silly unless it is strictly for show and not for actual usable illumination.
