I was a little skeptical of you guys posting 22+ mpg for 4wd V6 Tacomas... until now. I did my first road trip where most of the miles were true road miles. We went to the NC outer banks from MD (300 miles each way). On the way down I got 21.7 mpg but that included about about 20 miles stuck in bumper to bumper construction traffic and about 10 miles wheeling in the sand, some deep and soft. Coming home with no such diversions I got 22.5 mpg. Yeah, different gas pumps may have made a small difference but both these numbers bear out the 22 mpg capability, at least driving reasonable speeds (mostly 60-70 highway mph for me on this trip with some 35-45 mph on the island).

BTW the truck handled the soft beach sand no problemo. Here are a couple of pics from Oregon Inlet....

that green looks real slick! good for you! my I4 usually gets around 19-21 but im running larger tires so that don't help much... kinda almost regretting not going with the V6

Thanks guys. Yes, stock Sport pkg wheels and Dunlops. As for gas, whatever brand regular I can find when I need it.

Shit I ran to Jacksonville this weekend and got a whopping 18.1 both ways. I was running 91/93 gas but was doing 80-85 keeping steady w/ traffic. I might get 20@ 60-70??

Great looking truck! I am getting that king of mileage too. Seems a lot of people on here are getting in the teens. I guess a lot depends on driving style.

    I'm getting between 24 - 27 from my I4 with 265/65R 17 Dunlop A20's.

Straight highway mileage is supposed to be 31 mpg.

I haven't had the opportunity to test that yet.
