Some us just don't need anything more than a RC. An RC was the only thing on my radar when I was looking. Plus I really like the look of it. Maybe it's because I grew up in the '70's and '80's when Toyotas, Mazdas, Nissans, etc. were nearly all RC trucks. Sad day...indeed.

    Nice picture of your interior.
    Yeah I'm old school also.
I remember when Ford brought out theirs and called it Supercab.
    Things have changed since then.

Thanks. I love my RC. I also like things as simple as possible, hence the RC, 2wd, manual tranny, crank windows, etc. I did splurge for 1 option...that being the rear sliding glass. Love driving with the windows down and rear opened up helps a lot. I only use the A/C when I have too.

Thanks for the picture of your interior. I have been wondering what the bench seat looked like. It appears that the transmission hump is too high to fit a passenger in the middle, even if it had a steering wheel mounted automatic. Bucket seats are standard on the regular cab 4WD automatic.

All of the options available on my 2014 automatic regular cab 4WD were mandatory options: console, cup holders, floor mats, sill guards, and sliding rear window.

When I drive the work Explorer Sport Trak, I have to remember to close the power window before I turn off the engine. I also have to remember to turn off the headlights.

I have 2 daughters. The youngest fits just right in the middle. She sits with her feet off the right a bit. No biggie though, as they aren't in my truck very often. But they both love riding in it.

It's too bad that they are getting rid of the RC. I need the extra room of at least the AC, but I drove a regular cab truck for years and loved it. I guess if you want one you better get while the gettin's good.

Just to be clear, when you said ordered, did the dealer place an order with Toyota to have your truck built, or did the dealer just do a search to find your truck through available inventory?

If Toyota built your truck based on your order, 2 weeks seems extraordinarily fast!

Wouldn't Toyota keep up with production until supplies make it until end of the year?
They won't stop in July just because 2015's are coming out in August for example.

Ford obviously thought the traditional extended cab was worth keeping and their use of added high strength steel etc beefed up that frame surround enough for 2016 and beyond.

I think it's pretty surprising to keep that architecture though. I hated the little flip out doors on my FJ Cruiser, made it awkward to let people in and out in parking lot situations where you're kind of trapped in between the doors and shuffle back and forth.

They plan for production and supplies according to model years, not calendar years. Regulations generally apply by model year.

Guess I should have been a little more clear I went to my local dealership and they began a search for the truck it did take 2 weeks to get it in and had the step bars on it the dealership that my truck came from must have added the step bars and didn't bother to take them off I'm just glad to be in my new one lol

I stopped in on a Friday evening to look at a sliver, base, 5-speed. Had intentions of coming back the next morning and buying it. Nope....sold that night. It was on the only RC, 2WD, manual tranny they had. My dealer said he sells everyone they get very quickly. But he said not worry, as they are very common and did a search with a 75 mile radius and came up with 12 of them. Day and half later I had my Super White, RC, 2WD, 5-speed.

So it would appear that Toyota builds (or was building) a fair number of base trucks and that they sell well. But it's hard to say based on one dealer's experience.

The September 2014 Car and Driver magazine says:
"A TRD Pro Series model joins the otherwise unchanged Tacoma family, bringing an even higher level of off-road capability."

This implies the regular cab will still be around in 2015.

Not sure how regular cabs fit into these new impact standards.

Not crazy about those blue dashboard lights on the new model. I like the dash lights in my '10. The reddish orange doesn't ruin your night vision the way that blue dash lights do. The GF's Honda has blue dash lights, and unless you turn them way down they're distracting at night.
