I never really took it out for fast stuff. I did once when I first got it and that was about it. I mainly did 4x4 stuff with it and DD every day. All of the times I took it out were documented in my build thread. It does need a little work if someone is going to take it out hard but I did finish a while back replacing a ton of shit on it. During the winter/spring I drove it from PHX to San Diego area twice and from PHX to Zion, UT also. Its been in snow and above 7,500 ft It doesn't really like being that high but it does okay.

I am selling it because I don't use it and want an FJ Cruiser. I'm not into the desert stuff anymore at all. I haven't been to a race in two years and no real desire to do the fast stuff anymore. I just want a clean MT rig I can go camping with and hold more then one other person in. SDHQ built my dad's FJ perfect and that what I want also. To people that don't know about trucks it just looks stock. [IMG]

Just wondering how that thing does in the open desert? Does the rear suspension keep up with the front or does it buck a lot? Can it keep pace close enough to long travel trucks?

The rear of it is really responsive. If he had the ICON air bumps it would be pretty awesome. The rear does keep up with the front well.

Short answer no. It can't keep up with LT trucks. It can keep up with a MT taco pretty well. The problem with the FJs and doing desert stuff is that they have a really short wheelbase and center of gravity is higher so they do buck a bit and can feel like you are going to roll it. We have taken that out pretty fast in the dirt but I wouldn't want to go very fast over a section of whoops in a FJ.

So my buddy backed out of buying my truck and is planning on building up his 07' Tacoma into a full tilt LT 4x4 monster.

Oh well, It will be a fun build up and at least I can co-dawg his truck it and help fix it when it breaks. :)

Interested on the links. I wanna know how they deal with the gas tank. Is there a smog approved fuel cell?

A guy that lives in Mexico on here has it installed. Forgot his screen name. He just moved the stock tank under the rear of the bed. There are no CARB approved cells.

I think I've seen that truck around here. I debating between going this route or going with SUA from tim at DMZ. I already spoke with him and got a written quote.

Yes, but it's a pain. Not worth the $$ if you ask me. Move the tank to the bed, get a fancy bead rolled piece of aluminum to cover it, done.

I dont know your particular plan, but I have a f-150 tank behind my rear axle on my 4runner. Ive registered it with it back there and have been to smog twice with it and no issues. I do not know all the fine print of those rules, but it looks stock, has all the hoses hooked up and doesn't throw any codes.
