The dealer replaced every part like the TSB stated. The general spring leaf packs are identical to the TSB springs (3 leafs plus one overload ) as far as the amount of lift they provide. The TSB probably works 10 -20% of the time. I have yet to see a total fix for this issue. Three techs I know at the dealer have the same issues after doing the TSB on their own trucks. Hopefully others have better luck.

yes they might have a 3+1 setup between the TSB spring and general spring... that does not mean they are made the same.... the TSB spring has a different overload spring to reduce axle wrap than the old OEM spring (which is one of the major factors in the vibration)

Also the lift ammount you might of gotten is the same but do you have 2* or 3* shims turning the pinion down on your general springs... no, which is what the TSB springs have.

Again, your screwed yourself on the TSB because you didnt use TSB springs.

No. There is nothing in the manual calling for greasing them and no zerks available for a grease gun.

I'm at 59K and filing complaints with the BBB and Toyota Corporate was enough to get them to do mine. I was also given a credit for the price of the General Spring HD leaf packs I purchased before they agreed to do the TSB
The vibe is still there, so they are now having a Rep. come out next week to see what he says about getting the vibe issue solved. We'll see what happens.

The dealer had no problems with the leaf packs. They are identical to the TSB leafs. That's why they gave me a full credit for the price of the leafs and the labor I paid to have them installed. I'm also getting this all done for free and out of warranty. You seem to be stuck on the leaf packs for some reason. Have you measured the General Springs and compared load ratings with actual weight in the bed ? I'm curious to see your results. Your comparison may be helpful to me and others.
Also, How did you eliminate all your vibes ? Do you have any info on a TSB which states they provide axle shims ? I haven't seen this on the TSB.
I'll ask them about the shims next week.

The shims he is talking about are now part of the new TSB leaf-packs, page 6-8 of the new TSB cover all the different TSB packs that are available for the trucks depending on your drive line angle specifications. What was the part # of the springs you had them install? If you look under your truck to you have a shim under the leafpack?

like stated before... the ENTIRE thing about this TSB is the PROPER leaf springs.... while yess your general springs had 3 leafs + 1 overload and fit on the tacoma, the similarities stop there. The TSB leaf packs have a slightly different overload spring that reduces axle wrap by contacting the main leafs sooner, as well as having proper degree shims depending on the angles measured by the dealer.

Your general springs ARE the problem to why you still have the driveline vibes plain and simple.

think of the shims as the 5th leaf on a 4 leaf pack (3 fulls, 1 helper, 1 shim)

it is one unit with a specific Toyota part number depending on how fat the shim is that is stuck to the pack itself

    TSB is exactly this:

    1) confirm vibe
    2) drop prop shaft drive in FWD confirm vibe is gone
    3) put back together
    4) replace tranny/engine mount (severe vibes can wreck the original one)
    5) install steering damper (useless but needs to be done)
    6) ---edited---proceed to 7
    7) lift vehicle on ride-height apparatus such as alignment rack (wheel lift)
    8) grab digital protractor and measure sh*t, do some maths
    9) according to the math in step 8, install one pair of the specified Toyota leaf packs listed in the TSB

skip any of this and still have vibes ? you did it wrong.
do all of this and still have vibes ? work it out with Toyota california

Your step 6 isn't there; (unless they changed the bulletin)
Once you change the tranny mount, in all cases, have to measure and do the spring replacement...
[Step 4, (4A,B,C,D) in the bulletin is the damper; goes right to step 5 (raise on drive-on hoist/alignment rack.) and step 6 (angle mesure)

Skipped to the end of the thread to ask - does this apply to 2014s? I think I have a faint vibration when accelerating, up until around 20-25 mph.

Took my truck in today for the TSB and wow is all I can say! The truck should of came like this from the factory, night and day difference and my vibes are gone. It took two service appt. to have it performed, one to drop the drive shaft and confirm and then today's appt. to install all parts. The 4 leaf pack rides really well and I gained my height back in the rear.

What I did find interesting is that none of the 14' Tacoma's on the dealer lot had any degree shims with the 4 leaf pack. Everything but the reg cabs now have the 4 leaf pack though.

With your expertise, probably checked this; but is everything torqued right? I can see 2k later miss-torqued parts showing a problem. Other have reported loose shock bolts etc.
Anyway, even tho the truck is outside the 3/36, you have a year on their fix to gripe. Maybe torque on leafs, maybe another bad drive shaft?
There is a tsb out for replace of dr shafts (under the 5/60) for prerunners for rear end hit.
    Good luck.

    I have a 2011 tacoma DCLB,
bought it off auction for a great deal with 28k in september.
    now it has 50700,
it started vibration at accels and sometimes during decels. it was worse at inclines.
took it into toyota of lynnwood Wa.
had a tech test drive it and
then was told that the "diff/driveline/driveshaft was slipping or locking up" i dont remember her exact words and when asked to explain.
she could not give me a answer, other than that the driveline will be replaced
    under 60k warranty.

TLDR; What should i expect in this situation?

not enough info...that statement about the problem is all over the place and not make sense. driveline replacement means pinion, cb, front and rear shafts, u-joints. no way all that is bad or 'slipping'

    it just doesn't make sense

Dropped my truck off at the dealer this morning for the 15-25mph vibration. They just called and said the driveline angle was +.5 degrees and are ordering a transmission mount, rear leaf springs, and a steering dampener to be installed next week. Here's hoping...
