    Nowadays if I take the time to stop someone for a violation, I'm going to write a ticket. Reason being is because the goal of traffic enforcement should be to positively alter future behavior. By that mindset, everyone gets a ticket. Anything that is an equipment or license violation is still written but as long as the person fixes the issue that resulted in the ticket I'll drop that charge in court.

    Sadly, here in Alabama, even a ticket that gets dropped is still accessible by the insurance companies, and they will jack your rates in a SECOND here if they have an excuse.

    In Alabama, ANYTHING on your record, including an official warning ticket gets you a potential rate increase. It's stupid. Thank God we have USAA and they don't care, but I have a customer who got a "fix-it" ticket and he said the insurance raised his rates because of it. (Second hand info, yes, but he had no reason to lie to me about it. We were just talking about tickets in general because my brother got one when he was visiting)

    Easy there Barney Fife...I told him to fix the violations and carry on if he felt the width was legal. If the cop is looking for warrants then tell the op to just fix it instead of a couple hundred in tickets. Only every been pulled over twice and got a ticket I deserved once and a warning for a headlight out plus cracked windshield and didn't have my licence on me so I know I've got a decent attitude.

    Why is this in tech is the real question?

    you probably won't be able to answer or won't want to answer but do you have a quota? Here whereI live there is a dept where that have to write 3 tickets a day and have to arrest 1 person a day. There was kind of a stink about it on the local talk shows.

    Love IT--great story!
    Funny thing happened to me.
    Was crusing down the interstate doing about 25 mph OVER the posted speed. Radar detector went BEEEEEEEPPP.
    There was a Trooper that zapped me-I immediatly pulled over-Knew that I was caught. Did not wait for him to get behind and turn on the lights.
    There was heavy traffic BEHIND ME.
    He must not have seen me pull over--he ticketed someone else that was behind me.
    That was my lucky day!!!
    Still laugh about it.
