I though I share my selling value I was offered at Carmax at the beginning of July 2014. I have a 2008 Tacoma DC off road 4X4 with 52,000 miles. The only modifications are wet okole seat covers (front and back), FJ cruiser anthracite wheels, viper alarm, and after market stereo. I grade the vehicle condition as a 8 on a scale from 1 -10. Most everyone states my vehicle looks new. Carmax offered $21,000 for my vehicle. Considering my vehicle had an MSRP of almost 32k when I purchased new in 2008 however I bought it for 26k during the hight gas prices in June of 2008. I thought I just share the price Carmax offered me.

Nice. So the question is, are you going to keep it or take the offer?

Is that a trade in number or the number they'll buy it from you at?

I'm pretty sure the price carmax gives you is for either.

not bad... i would have thought a couple thousand higher since you have a 4x4. i wonder what the price would have been if it was the same specs but a prerunner.

Just an FYI; when I was selling a Scion last year, CarMax told me they give you a limited time to accept/decline their offer. If you come back AFTER that time is up, they drop the offer by $1000. No negotiation. It's their way of making sure their time offering an estimate isn't wasted. BTW, I took the CarMax offer across the street to the Toyota dealer an they upped it by $500. SOLD!

I was contemplating selling and just wanted to see what they would offer. Interesting at the time kelly blue book was showing trade in at 24k for my zip code (92084) and I take what kelly blue book shows with a grain of salt. The truck has been paid off since 2010 and it mostly stays parked since 2012. The first couple of years I drove it everywhere and don't laugh our BMW stayed parked in the garage. I will say this the Tacoma is holding its value well.

Now that I bought a new M3 this past weekend I am considering selling the Tacoma but my wife wants me to keep it.

This was just for selling the vehicle to them but I believe the price would be the same if I was trading it in and purchasing one of their vehicles.

The offer was good for 7 days and on the fifth, sixth, and 7th day Carmax kept calling me to see when I was bringing my truck in to sell to them.

I bet they have a customer looking for a vehicle like yours and will make some quick cash off of you.
