new tires for occasional off road/snow driving?

Hey all - I'm looking for new tires for my 08 double cab sport 4wd Taco. I'm definitely a novice with this stuff so I hope these don't sound too dumb. I go off road less than once a month. In the winter, I do a fair amount of snow driving to go snowboarding. I want a good tire that is good for city driving that can handle off road/mud when necessary.

I also want to get a 1-2 inch lift. Are there any tires that would accomplish that? If not - can most off road places that install tires do the lift?

Mud Terrains are not going to be good for city driving in the winter. Why don't you just ask him to loosen a lugnut or two while he's at it?

 

Toyo are made of a harder compound, They'll last longer than most MT.

Also Krazie Sj wanted me to ask you to loosen up a lug nut or two while you are at it.

 

Mich. Ltx mud/snow they are a 80,000 mile tire, they aren't loud on the road at all. They are great in mud and snow. If u go with a mud tire your only going to get about 30,000. Mich would be the best bet considering it outlast most all AT tires, and good for mud and snow

Tire rack has what looks like a good comparison of like catagory tires. If you want a good tire for winter driving like snowboard/skiing, look for any AT with the mountain/snowflake symbol.
Tire rack has em highlighted. Ones i recall are goodyear duratrac& silent armor, BFG AT-ko i think too . They ranked em for ice and snow traction. Keep in mind , any car tire can be M+S rated, it means little on a truck tire too, the stock dunlop at20 for example. Those tires above can be driven year round btw, dont forget the all winter radials too if you like , blizzaks for example.
