I bought a used taco about a month ago. The compass did not work when I bought it and it has been on my mind ever since. Thanks to TW, I can now see what direction I am going!!! What a great site! It feels that this truck is getting better and better. Now the question is, "What's next?"

I own a 2007 TRD and it finally gave up the ghost a couple of days ago! I knew about this thread and go it back up. Love this forum! Now I need to find a way to fix my inverter!

Looks like I need the metal clips and the torx screws to hold it onto the panel. Had mine out for a couple years I guess and just got around to fixing it again. Anyone know the sizes and a source for those?

Last time I used a solder was middle school science camp. The whole process took me 30 minutes. Only cost me 2.79 for some solder (which I barely used any of). Great thread and thanks!

Anyone have theirs break faster and faster every time? I've done this 5-6 times, each time not lasting as long as the previous one. Now it doesn't even work at all and it's soldered on there just fine :(

Anybody know where I can buy the 510 "resistors"?

Yea, this last time mine only lasted for 2 days. So I'm gonna try to just buy the little 510s and put brand new ones in it.

Let us know how that works out. Might have to go that route too

Go back through this thread until you see the instructions for using regular resistors (not surface mount). that may work better than trying to get a 510 surface mount.:)

Hey randyg123, yep... I was just about to repost that link to my site found here.

Be *very* careful, especially if you are having to do multiple repair attempts...one solder bridge to the bare copper points on the board (near the resistor pads) and you will ruin it.

Just be careful, take your time, and examine the unit with a magnifying glass before powering it back up.

Thanks guys. I'll see what I can find out. I don't even know if that will work any better or not, just figured it might last longer than a few days, at least.

New member and Tacoma owner here(2007). The temperature and compass work on mine, but I noticed the console hanging down a bit from the roof. I pushed it back up, only to watch it fall about 3/4 inch or so as soon as I let go. Is there a latch that may be messed up, or a screw missing? I did not read through all 83+ pages of this thread...

Go to 1st page for instructions and you will see there is a screw and two clips holding the console up. Watch this video to see how it all goes together. From this you can determine if you need to reinstall or replace a clip of if you have a screw loose ;-)

I have re-soldered mine twice now. When i got the truck it didn't work so I don't know if it was correct before, but now the temp is way off. Typically it says no less than 110*. Anyone else have this issue?

I finally checked mine out. Screw is in place, removed it to pull the unit down... there is one metal clip missing. Where can I get one of these? (other than the stealership)
