see thats the thing what you described isn't a good crossfit trainer. I dont think new ppl should be doing that either. You've described the classic gym calling something close to crossfit and just putting people through the motions. and i also disagree with the not for people with goals. unless its just to get big. but i'm after fitness. all around as good as i can be.

But you won't be as good as you can be if you just do crossfit and nothing else. If you want good aerobic capacity you need to run, if you want good anaerobic capacity you need ploymetrics and sprints, if you want to be strong you need to lift weights with good technique and variability in frequency, duration, and resistance. Crossfit gives you average to below average in all these categories. Do you think a nfl player could perform his job adequately by doing crossfit and nothing else? Certain goals determine a proper exercise regime.

    I figured you would agree.

I'm not after overall fitness.....I used be about just raw strength. At my age now.......just trying to maintain some of it. Never cared about being cut or huge....just strong. Fitness & strength comes in handy day to day......you know what I'm talking about couch press guy! :D

idk i feel like the point is to run better than a lifter and to lift better than a runner and i think i can do both of those. I can, honestly not buttercupping the numbers, run a 6 min mile, squat 440# (last max), clean 300#, and do great with body weight exercises. I believe that it's about a good coach/programming gym that knows what they're talking about. Not just some jo schmo who took 1 crossfit certification class and decided to open a gym.
The crossfit games are this weekend, if you haven't seen those guys, you should see that junk. Now granted they do multiple workouts a day but each of them profess to crossfit and are as fit as they are without "extra help". Since they're tested this year because of all the flak that got.

But hey to each his own. I found something that works for me and is fun to do. I did the whole lifting thing in high school and right after, I've just never found anything that can kick my ass like wrestling did, except crossfit.

If everyone would get out and do something, I think we'd be a better country for it. It's things like this damn TW that prevents some activities from happening for me lol

Touchè my friend, I do crossfit like 3 times a month. I spend most days running and lift like 3 times a week. I agree, to each their own, find something that keeps you consistent because that's the most important factor!

I like how modular it is. I could use a shell but not all the time and I can use it for camping
