New Brakes at 33K?

    Got my truck serviced the other day for the 30K maintenance. I had both front rotors warped to shit, had about no brakes left on my truck, got new all four brakes. and the people at the shop thought my rain-x latitudes werent good enough for valuecraft wipers, they thru out 50 dollar wipers that are new, so only small complaint. But the main question is, were my brakes suppose to go at this millage? The previous owner did tow with my truck, and the guy who takes care of my familys toyotas said i am very hard on my brakes....

    Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
    It's possible. Warping comes from getting the rotors hot then cooling them fast, like running through a puddle after heavy braking. The previous owner may have done the majority of the damage with the towing. But that is speculative considering we don't know what, how much, and how often he towed.

    Eh, towing, riding the brakes down hills, enthusiast braking in turns ect... will wear your brakes out quicker. That said I do enthusist driving but I'm also nice to my brakes (well as nice as you can be). Riding brakes down hill can warp them fast as it causes a huge amount of prolonged heat build up (downshift and allow the drivetrain to maintain speed instead of riding your brakes to the point they might fail while driving). If they did a lot of towing at the upper end of the limits, that will kill brakes quick too.

    Still, at 3k that's pretty early for these trucks imo. Also, I'd have them either a) credit me for the rainx wipers, or b) take it off the bill. That's BS.

    eh, i am a very ethusiastic brake, love braking on turns, i kinda drive my truck like a sports car, but im changing my ways, i ride the brakes ALOT, need to stop that to:eek::eek::eek::eek:

    as for the wipers, i went to the service depo and told them about it and asked them about getting them back but the guy was out so i had to talk to a girl who was filling in, she said they are gone, $20 for each blade, bullshit, they squeek like crazy. oh well

    I drive my truck like I drove my sports cars... just not as fast :D Also, you go faster on turns by reaching your approach speed before the turn, go about half way, accelerate through the turn. Pro driver's don't burn their brakes out riding down hills either :D

    Sounds about normal for the brakes to need replacing if your driving a TRUCK like a SPORTS CAR.

    haha yeah im an idiot for doing that, but im changing my driving habits, I was so bad to my brakes that when i backed up i would slam on the brakes to lock up the front wheels.....but whats weird is that i feel no changing brake power, the new ones feel like the old ones

    Im not being an ass. Just pointing it out. Your number one post may lead some to think the brakes are a potential weak point in the truck. AND, you already knew what the problem was before you made the thread. ;)

    I'll echo some of the opinion here. You must be hella hard on your brakes. I've got 90,000 miles on my truck and the origional brakes with plenty to go. I asked the guy at Toyota about brake service and he said "keep doing what you're doing" as I have plenty left. I also tow a 5000lb travel trailer as well so once again you must be hella hard on your brakes to have them go in a third of the time mine have.

    When we hear the squeaks and squeals that means the censor is "rubbing" against the rotors or something like that right? I'm at 25K and I just bought new brakes but yet to install.

    Do we need to install new brake pads in the front and new shoes in the back at the same time for a 4x4?

    Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
    Squeaks and squealls can indicate several things. Brake dust accumulation or the "squealler" is touching the rotor. This means it is time to changed the pads. It is a good idea to change them all out at once (front and back). I normally check the rears for thickness in comparison to the fronts. If there is a great deal of pad on the rears as compared to the fronts, then I will leave the rears alone. The fronts normally wear faster than the rears.

    Im easier on my brakes now, WAY easier, but im just wondering, is riding your brakes bad? not riding the brakes down a hill, but on a normal road and following behind a slow driving jackass

    Yep. Anytime you have your brakes applied, no matter how little, its creating friction, and wearing them out. ;)
