Ok sorry if there's already a thread about this but I've looked a lot and couldn't find anything I currently have a 2006 Toyota Tacoma TRD pre runner, yes I made a mistake I bought a pre runner so now I am looking for a 4x4 but I've really come to the conclusion I have no need for the bed and really love the look of the 2014 4runners so are there any pro or cons to the 4runner vs. the Tacoma? if so what are they? Anyone else do the switch and regret it?, or love it? Thank you in advance! :)

    nothing cool
" I have no need for the bed and really love the look of the 2014 4runners".. you answered your own question. Get the 4Runner. You can't go wrong either way. Both are awesome.

Other than price I can't see a downside. They are very nice.

I love the new 4 runners, the front end just looks cool. The ideal scenario is for me to have my Tacoma and my wife's next vehicle will be another 4runner, both 4 wheel drive of course.

We went out on a limb and purchased a GMC Acadia a few years ago. The storage is the best, fold down 3rd row which is way nicer than it's competition, pretty sweet overall. The downfall, well it's a GMC and we have had issues, Toyota next time for her.

wait till 2016 taco unless you need it right now. You will be kicking yourself if for 2016 the taco gets updated with a nice new powertrain that kicks the 4runners butt... pluss you will have a truck... which is 100x better than an suv.

    I have a 13 taco, dad has a 14 4runner... Love both and wouldn't have a problem swapping.

That's exactly the way I wanted to do things have the Tacoma and the 4runner but unfortunately the Tacoma is not truly what I wanted due to it not being 4x4 I really kick myself for that one missing feature that I need.

Yeah that's unfortunate I've driven those as rentals and they are nice and GM has always been really up with the features but the unreliableness is just not there as well as the resale value,

    Bone stock. For now.
IIRC, my fiancé's '10 4Runner had a fully boxed frame, available mechanical transfer case shifter, and a better engine configuration than what is available in the Taco. I was thiiiiiis close to selling my Taco for a T4R myself, I just use the bed too much.

I say go for it! You can't lose with a Toyota 4x4!

I've been wanting to get rid of my 06 as well for the 4runner, but I just not sure of the front end looks, oh and the price... But I would love to get one....

Buddy has a 4runner. Real nice ride. Can't really poke any holes in that vehicle. Looks sweet and has the powertrain to back it up. Like another poster said, if you dont need the bed, then get the 4runner.

The whole wait till whatever year yada yada yada, better upgrades this and that, good luck with that.

Yeah I love the 06 but its not 4x4 and the cost of a Tacoma 4x4 is roughly the same and id be getting the same truck I have already so its kind of like well I am not that excited about that option however the 4runner has tons of options and its different but I just wanted to see any con's to the runner

I seriously considered the 4runner but needed something that was rated to tow a bit more.

I would have gone with the 4runner if I didn't need the bed. They don't hold their value quite as well as the Taco though, so I would at least look at the used ones.

I'd trade the shit out of my Tacoma for a 2014 Trail 4x4 4Runner any day, and that says a lot seeing as I love my truck. My first vehicle was an 02 4Runner so my nostalgia is pretty high for them.

Why do you need 4wd? Or is just something you want? Why spend a ton of money if you don't need to. Unless you just want a 4runner then keep what you have. Your going to spend around 20k to switch from your current truck to a new 4runner
