    ok so i am running 285/65/18 tires and was wondering if i wanted to go back to stock gas milage what gears would i have to switch to and how would it affect my performance?

    do u know how it will effect performance like acceleration?

    it should return it back to stock
    but if you want faster acceleration and a little bit more power go for 4.88

    how would the 4.88 do on gas milage? average?

    i couldnt tell ya
    the 4.56 should bring everything (including gas) back to stock
    so the 4.88 would be a little bit worse
    but i dont think it would be too bad

    prob will be around 2k not cheap

    One needs to account for the increased frontal area/compromised aerodynamics of a lifted vehicle, increased weight, and most importantly increased rolling resistance of LT "meats" over the P-metrics... I would be surprised to find shorter gears circumvent the laws of physics and "restored" ones MPG to stock.

    Another thing to consider is that direct comparisons on MPG can not be made using the odometer mileage divided by gallons method as changing wheel diameter changes final drive ratio and thus reported miles on the odometer. One has to use gallons per known distance or GPS distance.
