Surfing around this very informative and expansive site, checking out different forums etc....

I have seen on a few occasions people say "Whatever you do, don't buy a Pre-Runner". Generally they are in response to people unsure about what make/model to buy

Is there a reason for this? My 2013 TRD OR Pre-Runner seems pretty sweet, but could be the biggest P.O.S. for all I know.....

    Oh, ok...so they don't make a 4WD Pre-Runner I take it. Gotcha.

There is nothing " wrong " with them it is more of a preference thing based on what your desires and needs are for functionality and use.

Bilstein 5100's on all four corners. Front set @ 0 with OME 883x coils. Alcon leaf springs. Viper Alarm. Wet Okole seat covers. WeatherTech Floor liners front and back. Oem Toyota chrome exhaust tip. ARE Shell. America Outlaw Wheels.
This is my second prerunner and I love it . If you don't need a 4x4 then they are great . You get the same ground clearance and suspension with less maintenance and you have the same suspension up grade options. Just my 2 cents. ;)

A pre-runner is basically a 2wd riding on the higher clearance 4wd suspension

If you want to drive on dirt roads with minivans buy a prerunner. If you want to get out on trails that not everyone cant do then get a 4X4.

Got it. To be honest I didn't do much research into it...I sat in it, took it for a test drive, loved it and bought it. I knew I didn't need 4WD, but aside from that I was open for anything.

My only other truck experience was my 1993 Toyota 4cyl p/u truck that lasted me 17 years. Threw in a "city car" after that for a couple years and had to go back to the truck...

I've had four 4x4 tacomas and have a prerunner now. I love it. It's all in what you need, I don't need 4 wheel drive now

Buy what you need ... not what you think others think you need ... I think.

I do not climb trails ... crawl over rocks ... live in the Yukon ...

I do travel fire roads ... haul firewood ... male runs to The Home Depot ... so I have a Prerunner ...

    It's a great ride

Op, if you think the PreRunner bashing is nuts here, start a new topic. "Which truck is better to buy for my first truck TRD-Sport or TRD-Off Road" then sit back and watch the crap fly across the room.

TW, would have you believe owning a "Sport" is more useless than 5-Lug (nothing against 5-lugs) just saying.

Go PreRunner TRD OR. While I have a 4x4, your locker rocks, I've seen Prerunners do amazing things. Locked rear and lighter up front. Don't listen to the nay Sayers

    Btw. 4x4 FTMFW !
