That looks like a great option for camping and dog hauling, but I'm too tall for truck bed camping and the dog isn't getting it. ;)

Ian, thanks for the input. I haven't seen the screens at Campways, just once actually when I happened to park.near a Tacoma with them after dinner one night. Luckily.my dog is 55-60lbs and mellow in the truck. I also have a bed cleat against the cab and an 18" leash attached to it to limit her reaching the bed aides. The pet screens would mainly be for protecting the usual.mesh screen from her putting her head through it. I'll keep that in mind!

The pet screens would be good for keeping people out of the shell too. I ended up with sport windows (they pop open but are much smaller).

    Not enough beer;)

I ended up doing that with some pet screen from the hardware store, pretty solid, but they could still get out if they really wanted.

I would love one like that, just add flip up sliding side windows and it'd be perfect.

Check out White rock lake, or Gold Lake (off hwy 49 Downieville/sierra city area) fun and relatively mellow 4x.

I bought my snugtop from Campways in SR. not cheap by any stretch, but i had all the options (slider windows, dog mesh, carpet, light, yakima tracks, big rear glass, lock/unlock with key) and they have good customer service. A fuse blew on the lock/unlock w/ key fob feature and they fixed it free and right away for me.

If you are specific in your needs, and don't mind paying a few more $ to get exactly what you want, I'd recommend them. I've had my snugtop on for +- 40k miles (and lots of wheeling) no leaks, no squeaks, everything functions perfectly.

I also got my cap from Campway but not in SJ. The SJ folks overcharge like a mutha fugga. I went to the Santa Rosa one and got some really great service. I highly recommend those guys.

Call them up, sometimes they have used/loaner models for a lot less and in great condition. I got my Snugtop Rebel for ~$1,400 bucks and people are still selling them for $1,500 used. Mine had minor tear on one of the screen windows, which I don't really care about since I could DIY replace it whenever. Don't bother getting the super fancy cap where the window only pops out an inch, that's almost no ventilation.

    Sliding windows FTW.

If you're actually looking for something for bed camping there are two more solutions you could consider. One is an RTT (roof top tent) on top of a bed rack or shell, the 2nd being a Flip Pac camper. They flip open to reveal a queen side bed.

I went to Truck Tops USA, right next to Campways. I checked out both, but Truck Tops had a better deal on my Leer 100R. Check them both out and see who can get you the best deal with the options you want.

With so many of the beers high in alcohol content, it takes fewer of them to get hammered...
