Just got a letter from Piercey Toyota In S.F. bay area, wanted to buy my 2009 Tacoma for $25490.00, and " Piercey Toyota is prepared to make you an aggressive offer to purchase this truck from you whether you are trading or not. Take the cash and walk away, or trade up to a 2014 Toyota. It's your choice." Now, in 2009 I paid for it only $27600.00, and got to be a catch?
    What do you guys think?

I'm not super familiar with these kinds of deals but a lot of people have posted on TW about this exact kind of situation. Especially from a dealership there is always some kind of catch to it or at least thats what everyone says. Bottom line its to make the dealership more money so think hard to see if its really worth it.

Got the same letter but from toyota knoxville. I called them about it and they said absolutely we can honor that deal... what's your mileage and does your truck have this, this, this, and that. I hung up because it's one of those if your truck has every option available. And is perfect condition they will get close to that offer. But only if you trade in. Also be on the look out for those, "We need used inventory"

Its nothing but an attempt to get you to buy something new, and the only way they come close to offering you that amount is if the truck has super retarded low miles ,completly stock, and 100% perfect "just rolled of the assembly line" condition.
I once had free oil change coupons for an old car, took it in and in the service waiting area was a huge sign " we are looking to expand out used car inventory, we can offer 125% blue book on the following cars...." it then listed all of the cars that were in for service that day.
The dealers do anything to make a dollar

I got one saying they'd give me at least 13k for my 08 that I paid 16k for used....called and told them I wouldn't take 20k or even trade straight up for a new one and to quit sending me their junk mail.

I got one of those recently. I've never heard of someone actually getting what the letter said.

I love how so many people call this a scam. It's not a scam. It is a sales tactic that every manufacturer uses. Read the fine print and it probably discloses the details. Many times it will say "Up to $xxxxx.xx for your vehicle" and that is exactly what it is. It is a sales tactic to get you in the door. No different than a box goods store offering great sales prices on items they are wanting to unload. The idea is to get you in the door. I get them all the time for my mom's Chrysler van, and my old van, as well as my sister gets them as well. Companies are in the business to make money, and throwing offers out there are a way to get them in the door. I offer oil changes as low as $34.95, but those oil changes are the very basic ones, and only include up to 5 quarts of oil. Many vehicles require special cartridge filters, or more than 5 quarts of oil. It's not a scam. It's a way to get a customer into the door and inspect their vehicle for safety issues, or other problems (worn tires, worn brakes, etc) So that I can take care of them, and make money.

Really? If you have a comment then feel free to make your own. Don't take one of my statements and twist it around.

While we appraise your truck, why don't you test drive that Baja packaged Tacoma over there. I bet we can get your payment to the same amount on your current truck now.
