I looks as if.

 

Wife wants this 80's box with halogen lighting removed and the some can/recessed lights. So the ceiling will be all one flat level. I know some of you on this forum do construction so figured id ask for some advice. Without walking me through step by step, does anyone have any good websites to look at? I've Googled box lighting removal, halogen box light updates etc. Maybe a long shot but thought maybe someone had done it in their own home. Yes I have popcorn ceilings too. That's a whole different argument with the wife.

If you take out that box you will almost certainly have to redo the entire ceiling thanks to that popcorn. Otherwise you're gonna see where that box was.

 

Yup. Probably use some kind of popcorn texture and have to paint the ceiling i guess. I also dont know how to rip out the section above the cabinets and make it look good. Though maybe someone had a good step by step website or something. If not i can try doing as much as i can and hire the rest. Especially the electrical stuff. Probably dry wall stuff too. Im handy but not that handy.

And you are right, more information would be needed to actually use the keys, location, keyway used and such but it is possible to make duplicates from a picture. That's all I was saying.
