I bought my '12 tacoma in April of 2012 brand spanking new and the battery is now dead.
No warnings just dead. And while my truck was in the hospital parking lot while my baby was being born! Fun ride home huh?

But now I'm just wondering if this is a common problem or what to do. Already paying some big bucks to get my wife's compressor replaced in her 07 sebring. Shoulda never got a Chrysler! But now this and a baby!!!

    Any help is awesome. Thanks.

It's not unheard of for a battery to last a little over 2 years. You live in a pretty hot climate and heat can kill batteries.

If it were me you may take it to your dealer and mine was replaced for free ( under 3 years 36.000 miles). Then again they may not. But u can try.

If not I'd get a sears group 31 m and call it a day. Oh and a pelfreybuilt battery cage.

Batteries in Az die In 2 years or less too.

    Good luck,
    Az

First off, congrats to you and your wife. Second, Texas heat can suck the life out of a battery, same here in AZ.

Thanks karmatp. Little guys awesome :D
Just weird cuz this hasn't happened with any of my past vehicles, then again never owned them for this long.

I don't think I can get the wife to give the financial approval to drop almost $250 on a battery and cage tho :/

Yes, it's a little pricey, but long term a better option for sure. I also got tired of the OEM battery corrosion after wheeling .

I'm always nice, firm and courteous at the dealer. I'm sure it will work out .

The battery in my old Mazdaspeed3 died in about that same amount of time. Definitely not unusual. I wouldn't worry about it. I just put in an autozone battery and was good to go. No need to spend crazy money on a battery.

I had a Mocraft die at 9 months. Fortunately I had my boat with me. Problem was the 87 F150s had low profile battery. I had to take steps to make sure the hood would contact terminals. In 2009 Tacoma I had one go at just over 3 years. It gave me some warning and I did manage to get truck started.

Since your over the 36k you probably wouldn't be covered but id still try. Mine in my 2012 took a crap last month and I bought my truck in april too. Just went dead no warning but the dealership switched out no questions asked.

I bet if you read the fine print, batteries aren't covered. A dealer may be nice and do it but they're kind of like brakes, normal wear and tear.

Dealer replaced mine without me knowing it was bad. When I took it in for other warranty work right before the 3 year warranty expired, they just said the battery is bad so we replaced it. I think they are aware that the batteries are crap...
