While driving my 13' taco whenever my weight shifts in the seat it makes a clicking/thud type noise... I took it to toyota and they have already replaced the seat and now with the new seat it is doing it again.. Anyone have this problem or know exactly what it is.. I do have wet okole seat covers if that means anything... This is driving me crazy!! thanks guys..

My 2013 has started to do this...along with a very rattly passenger front headrest. I'm going to have the dealer take a look next time I set up an oil change. A month or two...probably.

I thought it might be in the seat but it could be where the seat mounts to the truck. Loose bolt or broken spot weld in the floor? I have no aftermarket covers on my seat and about 28,000 miles on my truck. It started a few thousand miles ago in mine. Hopefully I can get both issues resolved because, like you, they drive me crazy and are unacceptable.

I've said it many times, Toyota quality seems to be getting worse as the years pass. Just my last three toyotas (1st gen tacoma, 2007 FJ, and 2013 Tacoma) have been progressively more problematic. Nothing big that has left me stranded or anything like that. Just this really annoying crap like rattling and clunking.

I just had my DCSB offroad seat replaced for the same exact reason. I really hope, I won't have to get it replaced again. Originally, the dealer told me they were going to order a frame and replace the part that may be wrong. I'm actually glad they just replaced the whole seat, BUT it doesn't tell me what was wrong.

I just wanted to chime in, that I had my whole driver seat replaced as well.

Mine had a creaky spring when I got out, I had the katskin leather installed, so the dealer had the katskin installer fix the springs and firm up the seat edge.

I've already had the seat replaced by Toyota and I'm getting the same annoyance!! They said it was the rail so they had to replace the whole seat and not even a month later it's back with a brand new damn seat.. Smh. I really would like to know exactly what it is so I can fix this bs!!

They decided mine was the lowest spring in the seat back...lower lumbar area. It did make noise when they tweaked it but I don't really think that's the whole problem. Dealership took the seat apart and tried to fix the spring issue but it didn't work. I'm waiting for a call regarding a new seat under warranty. I should know in less than a week.

Passenger headrest is rattling too...they spent so much time on the drivers seat that they didn't have a chance to dive into the passenger seat. They're going to do that when/if I get cleared for a new drivers seat.

I absolutely will. If the next seat (assuming it gets replaced) does the same thing, I'll be tempted to try to figure it out myself. I've taken seats apart before and I'm not really afraid of it. It sucks and is very time consuming though.

Getting a new seat on Wednesday. That doesn't tell anyone what the problem is but if it cures my issue, I'll be happy. I'll keep you posted on how it all goes.

Have you checked the lower (right side) seat belt buckle assembly? While listening for spark pinging with my radio down I noticed a weird noise every time my weight adjusted. I finally tracked it down to the where the seat belt clicks in. There's a spring or something in there that make a bit of noise.

To be clear, I don't think it's right inside the buckle part but lower on the assembly. Try wiggling it around and see if it makes a noise.

Dealer replaced my drivers seat with a brand new one. It's silent just like it was when I bought the truck. I assume it will start clunking as it gets more use but I'll keep my fingers crossed that it doesn't.

Well, less than 500 miles later, my new seat clunks like the old one. Lame. I'm going to talk to the dealer again about as long as it's in warranty (3000 miles left). After that, I may have to dig into it myself.

There are 2 area that the drivers seat makes noise, first the plastic trim on the lower right hand portion that hides the corner of the rear seat. The screw gets loose and the plastic makes noise. I actually had to replace the screw because it was stripped from the factory, cheap pot metal seat frame and small fine thread screw. The second place is the lumbar support, if you pump it up to much it makes noise. Now I just have to combat the passenger seat that rattles when I hit a big bumps on the drivers side. I dont understand how these trucks have such a good reputation, I think they are built like shit. Tacoma owners must have low expectations or there last truck was a bigger piece of shit.

My lumbar support makes a popping noise.. it doesn't go away unless I turn the knob to pump it up. Lasts for a week or 2 and then the cycle repeats.

I've got a 2015 that does the clunking with weight shift. Took into dealership and after an hour they came back with a cup of change and said that was my problem. I laughed and said do you think I'm stupid! Didn't have any patience, faith or time so haven't been back. I would like too know the fix though if anyone figures it out.
