I saw your thread, I put around 2000 miles a month on my truck for work, if I play on the weekends it will be very mild, most likely a trail to go hunting or fishing. I have no plans for hard core wheeling and worries about slamming into rocks. Thanks for the heads up though, if I was going to use it for hard core wheeling, I would probably upgrade to real skid plates.

Reading up more on this, really only seems to be a possible problem if you plan on heavy off-roading? My truck is my work truck and I only plan on getting to the edge of a field to toss a deer in the back or do some mild trail riding because this truck has work on Monday... still need to worry?

I personally would do it as preventative vs wait for it to happen i actual have a 2012 buddy hasent even lifted his truck and he has to replace his needle bearing with bushing... Food for thought:)

Is this a 2nd gen thing because I had over 160K miles on my 2003 tacoma with the diff drop and never had any issues? I really have no plans to race across a rock quarry and I have to be to work with my truck on Monday if I do go off road on the weekend... and I think the majority wheel mildly and don't hammer across rocks because they also have to get to work on Monday with their daily driver...
