That is similar to the 10/22 mag holder that holds more mags. Back in the day I got to looking at my 10/22 magazines. Ruger purposely rounded the bottom of the mags so the contour would match the stock. I got to looking and told myself there is no reason it can't just be flat, then epoxy two together so at least you have (20) rounds on ya even if you have to flip it. Made for a very compact 20 rounds in hand. Take a rough piece of sandpaper on a flat surface and flatten the bottoms of two 10/22 mags then epoxy them together. I did (4) like this over 30 years ago and to this day they still can be taken apart and cleaned and both 20 rounders still work just fine.

I know this is an AR forum but I bet many of you have a 10/22 in the closet/safe. Just thought I would share a cool mod to do with your factory 10/22 mags.......

Hey do any of my California brethren know that if you build an AR pistol does the bullet button rule still apply ?? Or can you run a normal mag release

Dr Chris Lucci (owner of WRR and primary guide with HELGA) posing with a pig that Eric of TNVC killed using the T75 thermal clip on ($16000 optic). HELGA utilizes FLIR thermal and a PVS14 plus IR laser and red laser to enhance scouting and guiding duties to get customers on the pigs at night. HELGA is a design of his own and a badass piece of equipment. Part of what makes WRR such a successful hunting ranch.

^ Looks good, but what are you gonna do when you get an optic for the AR?

How do you like the RDS on the M&P?

I have an optic for the AR. I hand carry my optic when I fly. It's a TNVC PVS12 Aquila 4x Night Vision scope.

    Good question though.

I've been thinking about building one but I want a mid-length gas system. Where are you guys getting your front block pinned? Or I guess, tell me how you rigged your dissipator. I don't want a rifle length gas system on a 16" gun.

I have been looking at a 10.5" upper that has a gas port of .093. I have since been told that a port of .071 is optimal for reliable function.

Since this is my first attempt at a pistol build, I'd like it to properly function once I'm through since these parts aren't cheap! I'd appreciate input on gas ports so that I can build a reliable gun. THX

I shaved down the fsb to a low profile gas block. The front sight is an Armalite clamp on fsb. It's still a carbine length gas system.

Prolly have to go to arfcom to get that detailed. I think that stuff is way overblown, and you can easily compensate for gas ports with buffers & springs. Just buy from a reputable retailer and it should be just fine.

It isn't overblown. It is very important to proper function. Most companies will overgas for reliability but beats on parts. Heavier springs and buffers are designed to deal with over gas but most people buy them to deal with decreasing recoil (not their design just a nice side effect.

The best way is an adjustable gas block but does require more knowledge and input by the end user.

If your port is too large that would be my suggestion on how to deal with it. If it's to small you can always use machinist bits to open it up one size at a time. Obviously as stated earlier a reputable company should have it all figured out already.

If you are going to run suppressed, unsuppressed, subs and supers you will need an adjustable gas block and that would be my recommendation instead of all the various buffers and springs, which are only able to fine tune things not make drastic changes.

Meh, I've never really worried about it. What fails if a gas port is too large by a couple thou? Bolt lugs? At what round count? In the tens of thousands? Probably should be replacing your bolt preventatively if you're running at the 10k mark. Is there no erosion at the gas port or carbon buildup that causes the gas port diameter to fluctuate over time anyway? I feel like it's just the latest nitpicky thing to lose sleep over for AR guys who don't have anything else to talk about on arfcom.
