which brings into play a paradoxical dichotomy on this site; dieseltards with tacomas, and dieseldontgiveafucks, who also own tacomas

Why wouldn't it? The Titan is going cummins. Toyota knows they would lose out if they went anything else but cummins. Although a tundra with a diesel doesn't seem right to me. I'll take the 5.7 anyday

I don't see it happening, and Toyota never said they were going to go Cummins that was put in there mouth so to speak. I cant find the video but a Toyota rep was flat out asked if they were going to use a similar v8 Cummins diesel to Nissan and they said it could be a possibility, but it was more of a way to make suspense then actually answer the question. think about it like this, we know nothing on the next gen Tacoma but we already know about the drive train for the 2016 tundra, it's a rumor nothing more. also, I don't see them missing out on sales if they don't go Cummins. They never had a problem selling Toyota's with Toyota engines before so I don't know why they need another automakers engine to sell trucks now.

just the way I look at it

From what I've heard they are going to do a limited test run of Tacomas with Cummins. If sales are good they are going revive their Hyno Diesel project.

don't get me wrong I would love a Cummins taco (I think) I just don't believe it will happen, I know its not a for sure thing Toyota will go that route. I would definitely look at a Hino powered taco.

To bad Toyota doesn't team up and some how get a version of the 6.7 powerstroke instead of the cummins. I have driven both full size trucks with those engines and the cummins is nice but powerstroke is a lot better. The engine is phenomenal.

FIFY :p. I've driven a dually with a 6.7 Cummins, and it was a tank. The only Powerstroke to Cummins experience I've had though is a 7.3 to a 12 valve. And the 12 valve would run circles around the 7.3 towing. Hell, I even liked towing more with the 12 valve them the 6.6 Duramax they gave us when they took our Dually away.

Just wish Toyota would bring their diesel back and improve on it. I don't understand why accompany would want to run the same motor as their competitor.

reputable company doesnt have to introduce a questionable/untested product into their own product line- they can use something that already has a solid following/reputation that is already recognized
