It is getting closer. I didn't like a couple of the suppliers products so went with a couple different on some items. The few items i'm changing required too much involvement for the end user and thats not what I want. I'm trying to make this as simple as I can for those looking for a kit. Told the new suppliers what I wanted and will get the samples today. Just trying to make the best product available for you guys.

I'm surprised you didn't build a kit ten years ago when you did your truck! This will be a nice option for sure, and I bet you will be shocked at how many you sell.

I bet you're right, there's probably a lot of people like me who don't want to trash their DD yet but plan on doing this in the future. When the truck is paid off it's definitely on my to-do list

It sounds like most trucks going this route will end up with a fairly stout/expensive axle ( Dana 60 or Rock Jock 60 ) and a decent tire size to match. I can understand the reasoning for this but for someone looking to keep the overall cost down and wants to run 33s or 35s. What would be a decent junkyard axle to grab ?

^ ya I'm on the same track. I would think a decent 44 would be easy to use. Or at least I'm hoping it would be ha. But I'm still soooooo excieted about this and anxious to see the component and price list.

Find an old CUCV (80's chevy Army issued pickup). 4.56 gears, detroit locker rear, Front is Dana 60, Rear is 14 bolt. They are about the right width. Sometimes I see them at surplus auctions for pennies on the dollar. There's a set on ebay right now, but they aren't a smokin' deal.

My buddy bought a complete truck for $800, and it ran great. It's not a bad deal in any way, but if you do your homework you can find them cheaper. To put that into perspective, I just dropped almost $5K on a diamond axle.

Good info to know, wouldn't your diamond be stronger than this 1 ton though?

Probably. The housing is stronger for sure, and the axle shafts themselves are stronger, but time will tell how much stronger the R&P are.

I think they are Nitro's, but I'm not 100%. The gears themselves aren't the issue, the 9.5" Landcruiser diff is built just like the 8" diffs, just bigger. They don't have the pinion support a 14 bolt has, and will deflect more under heavy torque. Of course, you could have a ford 9" center from diamond as well. That's the fun part about custom axles...build them the way YOU want it done.

OK, so after wasting my time with a number of machine shops I finally found the Top link mount I want for the axle on this kit.

I've even put it on my truck this weekend and it really changed the way the truck behaves. It rides and drives better now and it drove good before. It incorporates all the aspects that we put into Rays truck which this kit is built from and adds another element that makes it just a tad better.

This is just the basic kit which is more complete than most companies complete kit.

it includes the joints with jam nuts, links with bungs and the links are cut to size and the bungs are tacked in, all the mounts that you will need for the links and all of them will have weld in washers for extra strength tacked in already, all the frame plating in the front which will include the steering box plates and sleeves, it has the panhard bar mounts and panhard bar with bungs tacked in and the joints for it, as well as the draglink and tierod with joints. These wont be tacked into the tubes or cut to size as this kit needs to be as universal as possible and some people wont use the Currie Rock Jocks. It will also have the drop pitman arm too and the steering shaft and joints. It will come with the coilover towers and lower coilover mount tabs as well. Then it's completed with instructions to show you where all this stuff goes.

The basic kit will come in around $1695.00 plus shipping, ( price subject to change) and it will also have my personal phone number just in case you need some moral support. :p I'll have some pictures up of the kit as soon as I can and will give you guys a heads up when it's ready to ship.

I'll get the next phase, the medium kit up soon and then the full kit with absolutely everything you'll need to do an RST front SAS.

Here are some pictures of the last piece of the puzzle for this kit from this weekend. I cut off my old mount and put the new one in with the new joints and link. Started to get cramped for time so we just painted it up before cleaning it good. I'll get to that next weekend and fix it up.

This is the top link at the axle I'll be using. I wont be using the frame mount you see next to it. It's not good for the type of quality kit i'm looking for. All the mounts will be tacked together so that all you need to do is weld them up and weld them on.

In the medium kit you'll have your choice of either grade 8 or F-911 Bolts in the kit. The basic kit you'll have to supply your own hardware.
