    Has anyone ever experienced this?

At a beach in South Carolina (Kiawah Island about 10 years ago), the biouminescent algae were blooming. When you disturb or touch them, they illuminate. It completely covered us and if you moved through the water, they would all light up. Very cool stuff.

It made skinny dipping with some (similarly aged) teenagers a damn memorable experience. If you stood up out of the water, your body would glow for a few seconds - boobs and all :D.

Here are a couple videos of what it looks like:

Yeah, I've definitely seen it before at Padre Island National Seashore. We actually had some water in a bucket and it really freaked me out, because when I stuck my hand in the water glowed, then I realized it was just bio luminescent microbes or something.

Bioluminescent jellies come about once a year here in NJ. They're the non-stinging kind and make the ocean waves look incredible at night. :)

Ah ha, I didn't see anyone else mentioned an island, so I figured you were referring to my post.

I'm retarded and see it in the first post now though...

Seen it behind the ship a few time in the Carib...Pusing 210 foot of ship thru the water down there stirs all sorts of stuff up....We'd leave a trail a few thousand yards long before all the eddies and vortices calmed down.

Never gotten to swim in it....but if it makes bewbies glow....I'm interested!!

Kiawah Island South Carolina is the most awesome resort area on the East Coast. It's a private gated resort area and has the best beach I have ever on. At low tide, the beach is about 100 yrds wide. Most of it stays hard so you can bike, play frisbee or beach bowl:
