So I blew the super charger belt tonight. It is Saturday night and no parts stores are open until Monday in this small town.

My question is how far can the truck be driven with out the super charger belt? . I would love to limp it home but I am leary about trying it.

The super charger has a by-pass in it I know. Not sure if it will let me get the 90 miles home though. Stuck here for now though.

    Thoughts?

Does it run at all? I had an '05 Cummins Diesel, blew the plastic ends off my intercooler about 10 miles from the house. I limped it about 12 miles to the dealer parking lot. It ran, but basically felt like an old diesel from the 80's with no turbo (tons of black smoke) Top speed was about 50ish IIRC.

I know a Tacoma is a completely different animal, but if it runs, perhaps just baby it along.

How many miles on the belt? What circumstances led to it blowing? Just curious for my information. I'm at 102k miles on mine and have been told it would likely be up for getting replaced round 100k.

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
This wont help the OP now but...

Always carry a spare beltfor the SC. They are a dealer only part and many dealers don't stock it, so may have a several day wait.

I keep a spare one. When I learnwd it was dealer only. Geez.

It has almost 70000km. We did a URD 2.85 pully install. I was going to put off the install until I had the new belt but I am like a kid on Christmas. I couldn't resist. Probably shouldn't have driven it to the inlaws but the wife does love to hear the whine.

I usually carry spare everything. I am trying to get out of the habit. Maybe I will go back to it.

I didn't have much advice last night ha. Did you try and make it home? I am curious if the new computer maps would let it run well enough to do that.

I am sure I could. However I am a wuss. I called a buddy with a trailer to haul it home. Change the belt later this week. Maybe a gator back if I can find one.

Doesn't the sc belt replace your whole serpentine belt? If, there is no limp home till another belt is replaced.

The SC belt runs only the SC. Nothing else. Changing it isn't a quick job either. From what I can find remove fan and shroud.. Remove tensioner. Then install belt. And reinstall all the other hardware.

My truck was supercharged and I had the same issue. You can drive it with no belt on there just baby it. Don't get into high rpm's. To change the belt all you need to do is remove the supercharger tensioner.

The TRD tune is pretty much soley for he upgraded injectors and fuel, not he supercharger itself. The air will still intake into your engine properly.

I was gonna say, I can't think of a single reason to baby your Tacoma with the SC belt broken. What damage could be done? The programming might make it more rich if anything right?

Exactly, I wonder if it even throws a CEL? If she runs, drive it home.

Yes it will run fine with no cel, but there's no reason to beat on it either.
