Ready to order 2015 - dealer says 3 month wait

Just wondering what others have experienced with Toyota, as the several Ram diesels I've ordered have been no more than 6 weeks from order to delivery. The Internet Manager at one of the local Toyota dealers is offering $500 over invoice (without any negotiation on my part) on any Tacoma ordered, but says San Antonio is backed up so it's a 3 month wait.

Interested to hear other experiences, as I'm not sure I want to wait that long.

 

umm.... 2015's arnt even out yet...

 

That's what my dealer told me. I placed an order for a 2015 AC on July 3rd (couldn't find any 2014s that I wanted). I talked with the dealer last Friday and the truck is scheduled to be made the last week in August and should be here early September.

Based on the TRD Pro option they showed off at one of the auto shows, I don't think there is. Maybe a new grille insert if the one they are showing isn't special for the pro, but that's it.

 

Before I bought my 2014 my local TN dealer said it would be October before they had a 2015. Idk if that's any different if you ordering

$500 over invoice is one of the things they'll say to get you interested.

It is what it is, but don't think they will make only $500 on the sale... I'm serious.

 

Two dealers I've dealt with indicate that pricing won't change much if at all. The second dealer is $400 above invoice.

I'm well aware of holdback and "invoice" and mentioned it b/c it's the starting point of the negotiation. But if I can't get a Tacoma until Halloween time I'll probably get another Ram, maybe the 1500 with the Eco-diesel.

 

I do not have the build sheet. This is what I have learned about the 2015s from my dealer:
1) No significant change from the 2014s.
2) New color Inferno is only available on the new TRD Pro.
3) The color Spruce Mica has been dropped.
4) the HD Rubber Flooring option has also been dropped (I wanted that)
5) 2015 pricing will be announce on 8/4/15
6) info is limited.

I actually feel fortunate that my order was accepted and it's being built at the end of August.

 

its been known for some time that the 2015's wont have anything new other than maybe a color change if that.

 

Well, if you can't get a new Tacoma for Halloween (I don't see why you shouldn't), DO purchase the most extended warranty money can buy when buying the finest American trucks you mentioned.

... I'm just being realistic.

 

When I "bought" my 2014 in May it ended up taking exactly 8 weeks to the day to get it in on preference order. So 3 months, ifthe factory is getting close to the point of changing over to 2015 producion, might not be that unusual?

When you negotiate price dont forget they make profit at invoice with more than just the holdback. Holdback is so well known now they are sneaking margins in everywhere else - dealers get bonuses each month from Toyota based on sales volume, based on scores in the post sale customer survey, they get a slice of the interest if you finance, among others. And if you trade in they stand to make a nice profit reselling your old vehicle.

I ended up getting my '14 for something like $800 under invoice, and judging from the "what did you pay" thread that wasn't really a phenomenal deal.

 

Nice! My goal, if I decide to wait for November delivery, is $1000 under invoice. As I plan to see the country once I get it, it doesn't matter to me which dealer I order through; I'll simply fly wherever and start the trip from there.

If anyone has any suggestions re: which dealer is most likely to order and work under invoice please let me know.

 

I work for a Toyota dealership. They haven't released the date for the 2015 Tacomas yet. Typically they come out early fall, Usually October. I can let you know I definite answer for when they come out, when I get the information myself, if you would like. Although it sounds like they're being pretty upfront with you seeing as they gave you the production week and delivery date. $500 above invoice is pretty awesome, at invoice is even better, under isn't going to happen
