If you're going to do it, you might want to look into helper leafs or heavier (stiffer) leaf packs to help handle the new stress that's going to be put on them and get some more life out of them.

And it also depends on if you're going to get lift from your shackle or not. It's a 2:1 ratio for lift from shackles. The more play/movement you get from them, the faster they will wear your leaf springs.

The problem is there are no companies that offer custom length shackles, every aftermarket leaf pack is different, and to get the optimal travel/stress on the leafs, you need the right angle on the shackle, I'm sure some get close, but My dakars with the add a leaf would limit me if I got a shackle flip right now.

I'm solely basing this on my own research, not experience, so who knows how correct I am.

The one I'm going to do just flips it from its stock location for the most and re-uses the stock shackle. Not a lot will change (height wise) but you will get a lot of droop. When you lift with shackles is when it starts getting hard on your springs from what I understand. I know one 2nd gen guy running 6in (99% sure) shackles from a jeep on his. He could probably give better info than me on this. I'm no expert by far haha

No welding required for shackle flip. And even stock shackles are going to cause different wear, all the off the shelf packs are designed for the stock inverted shackle design.

Hmmm I'll have to look, I found one that came with its own shackles. And I thought that whole they bolted on you should still weld around the plate for strength

I still want to do the shackle flip, but then I have to get a 12" shock and some shock relocation brackets, might wait until I need my rears rebuilt to do this to be more cost efficient

Shoe creek is around Crabtree falls in Nelson county, I've never been off roading there but I've hiked there, seems to be a popular spot among Va peeps for camping.
